The Pyramid Job
bobcobb30131 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I didn't love this episode, but this felt more in line with the tone of the show. Yes, we have dealt with countless pyramid schenes and manipulative businesses before, but it is always good when scummy people like this get the payback they deserve.

And I like the fact that someone was actually able to see through some of Sophie's lines. Yes, the Leverage team is supposed to be the best in the world at what they do, but even the best have off nights and/or meet worthy adversaries and I feel like we got that here. Good to see television occasionally acknowledge the hurdles that these individuals should go through.

So much better than the original!

Honestly, this show needs to be shown at schools and the reboot is SO good! The team still work together amazingly and the addition of Harry was a big plus.

It's interesting to learn more about Sophie's past but I don't like people making it out as if she's the same person she had been 30 or more years ago. She has worked not only with this team but also on herself during all these years and I don't care how many people from her past show up "cautioning" the others about her, she is trustworthy and I really, really hope we get more seasons of her leading the crew.

These new episodes are just *chef's kiss*

Anyone notice Christopher Gorham & Jack Buck look the same?

Warning: Spoilers
While watching this episode I thought the sportscaster Jack Buck was one of the actors. He looks just like Christopher Gorham.

I always love how the Leverage team takes down the bad guys. I won't go into details but the con they pull doesn't seem possible. It was very entertaining though.

I miss the original cast with Nate. Those were the best episodes and their cons were much more believable than the Redemption shows. This series reminds me of the Mission Impossible TV series in a way. Peter Graves played the lead while in Leverage it's now Sophia leading the team.

I love all the original characters. I've grown to really like Noah Wylie's character. He's an awesome actor. I believe Briana is a big far fetched. When she instructs the team it doesn't seem believable at all. There is no way someone that young could know all the things she does. It was disappointing to see Hardison absent from the start of the Redemption shows and being replaced by Briana. Briana shouldn't be telling the rest of the team about cons.

Not really on the old level
march3063 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Despite the grateful ratings, this episode / season 2 doesn't really come near the original quality, but mostly repeats known patterns. Just a short excerpt:

*) siblings or pairs staining their heritage or responsibility by doing stereotype bad things - come on?!?!? Again?

*) especially the blonde in this one is a mixture of the old wedding ring + the gold fraud story from the original series

*) someone seeing through Sophie, though, after a set-up from an old partner, hints to some new string, but for this EP her reaction lacks the convincing finesse.

*) Breanna doesn't come anywhere near the genius of Hardison *) Wilson develops, but the authors don't seem to have a clear idea what to do with him, as Sophie got responsible for the "con aspect". Hutton/Nate layed a high bar there.

*) the stories got shallow, the cons are a shadow of former ones

*) changing the scenery/location is ok, but ... its possibilities don't really get used (apart from the river casino story)

*) Eliot and Parker seem ... tired.

+) reprising old faces is ok - go on and use them for the bigger storylines, not just as extras.

"Date Night" was the best episode in the current season, but S01 had more soul, clever twists, some freshness and development.

Being a huge fan from the old days, I think the production team + especially the authors could get more out of it, by stepping back and take a look back at the original top episodes. PLZ!!!!
