Mortal Remains is a “shockumentary” which examines the life of Karl Atticus, a notorious filmmaker from the Vietnam era whose works have been mysteriously purged from cinematic history…with good reason, according to some. Interviews with historians and horror aficionados – including Eduardo Sanchez, co-director of The Blair Witch Project – suggest that Atticus’s legacy may …

As a fan of the Coen Brothers, I've been incredibly excited about this new western anthology series that they've been developing called The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. I'm excited to report that the series has landed on Netflix, which seems like the perfect place for it.
The series will include feature six separate tales that take place in the American frontier. Each chapter will feature a distinct story about the American West. So far the project will star Tim Blake Nelson as Buster and James Franco.
The Coen Bros. has this to say in a statement:
"We are streaming motherfuckers!."
Netflix's vice president of original content Cindy Holland added:
“The Coens are visionary directors, masterful storytellers, and colorful linguists. We are thrilled for Netflix to become home to the full range of their talents.”

Looks like the Coen Bros. have started casting their upcoming anthology western series. I assumed they would get some big name actors involved with the project and it seems as though they have. It was previously revealed that the series would comprise of six segments and each one would focus on a different character.
According to the Tracking Board, Tim Blake Nelson (Hulk, O Brother, Where Art Thou) is in talks to take on the lead role in the first segment, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. James Franco is also set to star in one of the other segments called Near Algodones. This is the first time Franco will have worked with the Coen Bros. Those two actors will be joined by Zoe Kazan, Tyne Daly, Stephen Root and Ralph Ineson.

Earlier this year is was announced that The Coen Bros. would be writing and directing a western anthology series called The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. We haven't really heard much about the series since, but today we have some interesting new story details.
I'm a big fan of the Coen Bros. and I've been excited about this show. It was previously revealed that the series "intends to pursue an innovative approach that could combine television and theatrical." We now know that the anthology series will tell six different western stories and thanks to The Albuquerque Journal, we now have the title of each episode of the series with a brief plot summary. Check out the details below:
“The Ballad of Buster Scruggs” is about a singing cowboy.
“Near Algodones” is about a high-plains drifter whose own fecklessness dogs his attempts at bank robbery and cattle driving.
The third story, “Meal Ticket,...

Like clockwork, after one film from Joel and Ethan Coen hits theaters, it’s not long after that we hear about what they’ll be taking on next. For their Hail, Caesar! follow-up, things took a bit longer, but for good reason, as it looks like their next project is a more ambitious one. Revealed at the start of this year, it was announced that the No Country For Old Men and True Grit directors would be returning to the west for the TV miniseries The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.
Backed by Annapurna Television, we knew it would “intertwine six different story lines” and it may “pursue an innovative approach that could combine television and theatrical,” the first story details have now arrived for the Civil War-set project that will film in New Mexico. Courtesy of Albuquerque Journal (via The Playlist), check out the details below:

The Coen Brothers are planning something quite ambitious for their next project. News broke at the beginning of the year that the filmmaking duo was set to direct a Western anthology series under Annapurna’s new television division, but the Albuquerque Journal now reports the project is a “feature-length omnibus consisting of six different stories.”
Whether these different stories will be released in pieces or as a whole film remains to be seen, but Annapurna did say it was mulling “an innovative television and theatrical integrated approach” for the distribution. Perhaps the feature version will be released in theaters, while a television distributor will air or stream the series in six parts. There has been no confirmation on the distribution strategy yet.
