Had to leave a review Warning: Spoilers
Sometimes I'll watch reruns of Undercover Boss Friday nights on Dabl. I'm not one to leave reviews for individual episodes of a show, so when I do, I must've found it really touching, thought-provoking, or bothersome. Well, in this case, it's the third reason. Despite this episode having aired many years back, I was so bothered by it that I had to post a review. This CEO was the most obnoxious I've ever seen. When he corrected the people who worked under him, he was pompous and spoke to them like some kind of a dictator. I thought it was awful how he jumped on the call center agent! She had trouble resolving issues with the customers, so she got a lot of hang ups. He became so frustrated that he took off his disguise and revealed his identity. He told her that she didn't receive the proper training, but he was exasperated, so at first it did seem like he was blaming her for not being able to keep customers on the line. He didn't have to be so hostile. I felt bad for the girl. I worked a call center job, and it was really difficult at times. It's hard trying to sell something over the phone, even if you were trained by the best instructor. The people you're talking to can't see you, so they're less likely to buy whatever you're selling than if you were in front of them. It's also hard to take care of any problems the customers are having with software that's outdated and/or not user friendly. I don't know why he lost his cool the way he did. He was out of touch with his own company. If anything he should've been angry with himself. He apologized for intimidating her at the part where he talks to the employees face to face and does something nice for them, like paying off their school debt or giving them a raise. She said she thought she was at risk of losing her job after what happened. I'm not going to make a judgement about whether or not his apology was sincere. I just thought his reaction was uncalled for. He should've had more compassion. Telemarketing can be overwhelming and stressful, so it was ignorant of him to work in corporate for as long as he had and not know that. He owed the call center manager an apology too, because after he went off on the agent, he stormed into her office and gave her a piece of his mind. He could've expressed his dissatisfaction with that staff member not having been trained without being so rude and nasty. This episode just displayed how men treat women like crap in the workplace. It brought back memories for me that I'd rather forget. I hope she's not still working in the call center department. Better yet, I hope she left Diamond Resorts International altogether.
