Nice Featurette

The Making of The Woman (2012)

*** (out of 4)

This 25-minute featurette can be found on the DVD and Blu-ray of Lucky McKee's THE WOMAN. What we basically get is your typical behind-the-scenes look at the production of the woman where McKee talks about how he got involved and then we learn what drew him to the material. From here we get to hear from various members of the cast including the cinematographer, the special effects worker and even the costume and set designers. Fans of the film should enjoy this as you get several bits and pieces of them shooting the movie and you even get a few scenes where they are building the cellar that is used in the film. The film opens up with the Sundance controversy where a "filmgoer" was kicked out of the screening because of being upset by the content of the film. I still say this was staged for publicity but whatever works.
