Fox is adding to its animation domination lineup this fall with Universal Basic Guys, and the network has already renewed the series for season two. Fox ordered the series from Adam and Craig Malamut in November 2022 with the working title Universal Basic Guys/The Hoagie Bros.
In the new series, the residents of a small town are given $3,000 a month when they participate in a Universal Basic Income pilot program. Brothers Mark and Hank Hoagies have just lost their jobs at the town factory to automation, and they now have money and a lot of free time.

For the first time since 2005, Fox is changing the schedule for its long-running adult animated series Family Guy. However, the move has many fans scared that the network might be considering canceling the popular series.
Here is what you need to know about when Family Guy will return to Fox, the reason for the schedule change, and if this means the network is canceling it.
Family Guy Not Coming Top Fox This Fall
The networks have released their Fall 2024 schedule and Family Guy is not listed on the schedule. This has many fans thinking Fox will cancel the show. Fans have been worried since Seth MacFarlane announced he was no longer writing the series and was just working as a voice talent.
However, there is some good news for fans of the animated series. Fox is not canceling the show. Instead, Family Guy will be a mid-season show, which means it will arrive in January.

Fox is moving “Family Guy” to midseason, marking the first time the animated staple hasn’t been on the network’s fall schedule since 2005 (when it returned to the air after being canceled for a few years). That’s one of the major shifts to come this fall as Fox announced a 2024-2025 lineup that includes two new dramas and a new animated series in the fall, with more freshman launches to come in midseason.
New dramas include lifeguard actioner “Rescue: Hi-Surf,” from executive producer John Wells, which will air Mondays at 9 p.m. Et behind “9-1-1: Lone Star” and crime procedural “Murder in a Small Town,” which will run Tuesdays at 9 p.m., paired with Season 2 of anthology series “Accused.” Later in the season will premiere medical drama “Doc,” based on the Italian series “Doc — Nelle tue mani” and starring Molly Parker.

Some of this TV season’s blood has already been spilled — looking at you, “NCIS: Hawai’i” — but as we head toward upfronts week, there are still a number of broadcast shows “on the bubble.”
But as the networks settle in on a diet of mostly stable franchises and fewer series pilots, there’s also less primetime schedule frenzy this year. The days before upfronts week which would normally mean a rapid fire few days of broadcast series renewals and cancellations announcements. But normal left the building a long time ago.
The broadcast network portion of upfronts has been so significantly pared down from years past that it hardly resembles what it used to be. These days, most of the broadcast networks announce renewals and cancellations well ahead of their actual presentations.
Take CBS, which has already announced its new fall and spring schedules as well as all of its renewals and cancellations.

Fox Orders Animated Series ‘Universal Basic Guys/The Hoagie Bros’ From Adam & Craig Malamut, Sony TV
Fox is drawing up its latest animated order.
The network has ordered animated comedy Universal Basic Guys/The Hoagie Bros. (w/t) to series. It comes from creators Adam and Craig Malamut and Sony Pictures Television.
The series is described as a show “about men trying to find purpose in a world where they’re no longer needed.”
It follows brothers Mark and Hank Hoagies, who suddenly find themselves with no jobs when the Glantontown Hot Dog factory switches over to automation. Lucky for them, the town started a radical Universal Basic Income pilot program, giving all residents of Glantontown $3,000 per month with no strings attached. Now, Mark, Hank and the rest of their local buddies once again are kids in the summertime, overflowing with the perilous combo of free time and stupid ideas.
Adam and Craig Malamut, brothers from South Jersey, are self-taught animators who write, direct, voice act, sound edit and compose music.
