Another Weird Episode

Warning: Spoilers
At least "Kitchen Nightmares" knew what it was doing. "Hotel Hell" just sort of wonders around and has more odd staged moments.

Once again a particularly high amount of time is spent around the food. Yes, viewers kind of want to see that and they are tuning in because of shows like "Hell's Kitchen" and "Kitchen Nightmares", but come on. And it wasn't even well edited.

And yet another episode with staged moments, like: Gordon invited passed guests in and had them and the husband & wife up in a room, where Gordon gave them all glasses then turned off the light and used a blacklight to show them all the stains. Lights go back on and all the guests have no glasses on. They aren't taking then off and they are not in their hands. So, it's obvious the moment was staged. Either they cut an entire scenes of them removing the glasses and getting back into their poses or there was a "clever" special effect with sound effect added to make it look like the lights were turned back on. Either way, staged.

The passed guests. Where's he manage all them? Putting aside for the second that they can't ALL be locals, so he would have had to fly some back in, why are the owners surprised to see them? Gordon couldn't have gotten their names, contact information and knew they had been there without getting records from John and/or his wife, so again -- why are they surprised? They obviously knew in advance. For goodness sake, it was like ten people; how'd Gordon get them there, in the small Inn, and up the stairs with neither John or his wife noticing? Staged.

And then the last staged moment I remembered: the end of the episode. Gordon is packing to leave. On a made up bed. Ah, who made the bed? What hotel ever has the maid make up your bed before you've left? Okay, so maybe he didn't stay there the night since the place was remodeled that night. Okay, but then why are his things in there and he has to pack them? He was busy throughout the day helping them. Seems like another staged shot.

And finally, there is the owner: John Hough. I'm sorry, but I don't buy his one-week-or-less transformation from laughing Pee Wee Herman to serious man who realizes what he's done wrong. He strikes me as the kind of man you FIRE from an assistant manager position at a cheap motel. For goodness sakes, he was laughing and in complete denial days earlier about being over a million dollars in debt. He's ruined their credit, their future, damaged their marriage, and put them in a situation where it'll take forever to get out of debt, meanwhile he's trapped his wife upstairs since they sold their house. And he turned all this around in a few days? Horse hockey.

And where are the dogs supposed to go? They live there now.

The whole thing was just sort of off.
