CW DC: Traditions Of Both
Sarah42329 March 2023
Founders Day? I chuckled at the very Riverdale tradition added to CW's latest DC offering. And, of course, the pretty young cast in action in the private school B-plot. (Stir in some Legacies)

But it's a fun offering.

The story has a coherent messaging and vision; the actors kick butt (sometimes literally--like,dang little Robin); and the set dec/costuming/editing people& f/x have outdone themselves.

Honestly, kudos to EVERYONE involved in this darkly twisted romp.

---

As an SPN fandom alumna, I giggled at the thirst being directed at Misha Collins. And yet he, too, fills his role as the borderline DA Dent. (In much better suits than Castiel, too. But let's not get too carried away with the zaddy Dent here, kids. Please.)

Dent is the challenge here--having been portrayed with such excellence elsewhere at a much higher budget production. However, Collins' portrayal of the politician works at the very center of this show about right and wrong, system versus individual.

So good job to the examination of not only the "two sides of the coin" but also the edge.

I really liked the episode.

I really liked this episode. Mystery, suspense and dynamic.

I like interaction between characters: Robin and Turner and their conversation about Batman as father and Gotham Knight. It was good and well written. I'm sure there will be plenty of those who will identify themselves with Robin in this situation as well as with Turner. It was a good scene. Druela was amazing. She lives he life and just wants some fun. And this actress who plays her is doing amazing job. She is something else and so not like others.

I was smiling while watching the scene in police department. It was good.

Costumes of the gang weren't so great imho. It was more like cheap Halloween suits or smth.

This episode has dynamic and some fun. Not bad.

Finally getting somewhere

Warning: Spoilers
Let's say I'm pretty much impressed about how good this was. I had my fair share of criticism on the first two episodes and it feels like it's getting better. I didn't review last week's episode because most of my criticism on the pilot were still there, even if it was a slight improvement

The whole Mutant thing was actually interesting. And the actors / villains were actually convincing. The acting seems better too, especially at the end of the episode, which was quite heartfelt. The hostage situation wasn't the best we've seen from the CW but they actually found a way to make it interesting.

Overall I'd say this was a pretty good episode. But my hopes aren't too high since I know who makes this. They're probably gonna mess this up in the next few episodes.

Feeling a 8/10.

I am impressed!

The bat-gadgets, the action, the suspense, that ending... we're definitely on the right track here. Sure, the whole "rich people locked in a room with a bomb" cliche has been done before, but it really works when you realize just how embedded the Court of Owls is in Gotham City. The acting was great, but there were still just a couple of moments where the unnecessary drama bled through, such as the scene between Harper and Stephanie. This was definitely the best episode so far (even though it's only the third) and I am very excited to see where this goes. The only thing I'm worried about is the longevity of this show. The concept is about four of the Knights being wanted fugitives, but that will most likely be resolved by the end of season one, I assume. I just don't know what the show will become in the long-term when the main selling point seems so short-termed. Then again, with the way James Gunn has been sloppily handling DC properties, who knows if this show will even see a second season.

Gotham gala

This episode was very good in being real . As for which I've concluded is the dynamic between all of these characters. They bring something to the table and with some many characters you can't help but want to not only learn about them but the surrounding social life of the rich kids and the beaten down fugitives. Mostly every character had a bright light to them this episode and the heart strings for their motives between Dent and Turner, Turner and Carrie, Harper and Cullen. And having Dula be a wonderful bully to Turner is enjoyable. I believe Dula will forever try to get under people's skin cause she likes it that way.

Now we're cookin' with charcoal!

The show is starting to find it's feet!

Actions have consequences, even when that action seems to be good... what's that old Pratchett quote "A good man in a corrupt world or a corrupt man in a good world, the equation comes out the same"?

There is so much corruption and bad - the core of Gotham is rotten, so good deeds often have unintended bad outcomes.

Robin gets to know this, taking down the bad guy who robbed her of her family, and it results in a siege that their little gang go in and foil. It's awesome seeing their dynamic settling down with 3 becoming 6 since the first episode (Turner, Robin and Stephanie joining Cullen, Harper and Duella)

There's still a lot to figure out, but now we look like we have a clear path: a key figure is gone, and another is rising to fill his shoes, and we know this is not going to end well...

Full of action and emotional moments. Every character had meaningful scenes, I liked everyone!

I almost cried during the convo between Turner and Robin about being jealous of each other's life.

And I liked Cullen standing up to his sister to show he doesn't need her constant protection.

Duela is still my favourite after Harvey, because she's badass and sarcastic and funny, but I think there's a good side of her we might see in the next episodes.

Harvey was kickass, he's still the good guy but his ambition shows and I ask myself if the corruption of his mind will come only from his inner demons or if someone else will try and corrupt him to get "benefits". He's still a mistery to me.

And now there's another big mistery! Who stole the bomb? Who killed the Mayor and why? I'm more and more thrilled and can't wait to watch next episodes.

Another excellent episode of Gotham Knights. We get to see The Mutant Gang in action and The Court of Owls keep proving they're no joke. Tension is rising between Harper and Stephanie. Turner and Carrie bond over Bruce and the different relationship they had with him. I love Cullen's disguise, the mustache, making him look like a young Commissioner Gordon. And Harvey Dent what can I say... he kicked ass and did looking good in tux. We also find out he isn't as innocent as he seems, looks like Harvey has something going on with Brody's mom. (I don't blame her, good for her). And that ending... a game changer. All I can say is Harvey Dent definitely has my vote.

My excitement doubled up watching this episode honestly this show is amazing
bramro30 March 2023
I love the pacing of this episode. Every character from carrie, turner to cullen and stephanie had such an important role to play. It's not teen show but can be watched by family of all age groups. Kudos to the cinematography truly gotham feels so real just watching these episodes. I have to say Harvey Dent stole the show he can throw a good punch and is the hero gotham needs atleast for now. Duela is fun character seeing her being joker-esque its as if Joker is right there with her with notorious dialogues but also we see her caring side, she has become my favorite character. Loved this episode overall can't wait for the next one.

Watch this over and over
journalisk2 April 2023
FIRE episode. We're on episode three, and I watch this show over and over and over and over. I especially loved this episode. It had everything I want from Batman. This show has me so fired up about DC, and I'm worried that Gunn will abandon it. This show created a great Batman show before HBO Max could: this is the best TV rendition of Batman yet, and what Batwoman tried and failed to achieve.

Like everything with this show, its one awesome plot twist after another. The writing is really good. And the characters continue to reveal depth little by little, becoming increasingly interesting with each reveal. There isn't a single character now that isn't great. Even auxiliary characters are very sympathetic now.

I really like how they have the Mutant Gang from Batman Beyond. We're also starting to see characters comic selves shine through. So many good Easter Eggs.

Tyler Chiara was a standout actor in this episode. He continues to be a great character.

Best episode so far!

Warning: Spoilers
You can see this show grow and get better each week and that is just a pleasure to watch. Not saying that the pilot was bad at all, I really enjoyed it as well, but it had to fulfill a lot of expectations within a short time frame and therefore felt a bit hastily. Now, with each episode, you can see the characters grow and watch the story gain more depth and that is absolutely how it should be (Turner for example feels way less bland by now. You also have dynamics evolving between characters that are fun and exciting and make you want to see more). The music and mise-en-scène are amazing as always and the best I have ever seen in a CW show. Extra props to the gala introduction scene(s), too! I really, really want to watch the next episode RIGHT now, and every week leaves me impatiently waiting for the next ones. Cannot wait to see more of the character development of Harvey and the dynamics between Turner and Robin, Druela and Turner (/the whole group), and Cullen and Harper as siblings who obviously very much care for each other, but maybe also want to do their own thing and grow as young adults/own characters. Also Cullen with his mustache disguise gave me as a trans guy watching incredible gender euphoria somehow and I think he absolutely rocked it :)
