Mickey for parents!

Warning: Spoilers
Finally! A Mickey and friends special that targets the older crowd. We're newish parents with a one year old and when we put this on it was mainly because our daughter loves Donald Duck. But lo and behold, the animation is somewhere in the range of Cupheads and Ren & Stimpy. The graphic close ups with the water colored backgrounds bring forth a wonderful mix of old and new. Even when Donald begins to get sick from the cold, the image we thought would scare our little one, but instead she laughed and so did we.

The story is delightful and full of cheer. There are many Easter eggs with Disney characters from shows and movies. The voices are a bit funky at times. Scrooge McDuck I didn't know was Scottish (or Irish?) but now I realize McDuck is meant to be like a McGlynn.

Anyways! Watch it. It's absolutely delightful.

Animation suffers
dkhiggin20 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It suffers greatly from "Ren & Stimpy" or "Cartoon Network" style animation and music - giant mouths, lots of teeth, music taking away from dialog. The music is too loud and nearly frantic, combined with the typically poor animation you see on Cartoon Network. Otherwise, it's not a bad story. Donald Duck is sad to be leaving Mickey Mouse, Goofy and his other pals at Christmas, so he decides not to fly south with Daisy Duck and the other ducks, but to stay up north to experience Christmas with them. Donald gets to experience tree-trimming, ice skating...and catching a cold. In the end, Santa tells Donald he can experience Christmas anywhere and with whomever he is.
