Problems with most sitcoms, in my opinion at least, is the fact that in one episode a storyline shines and is very focused on, while other storylines just seem dull. In this episode of Modern Family, however, all three families are shining with their own plot, each funny in its own ways.

First, we have Cam and Lily, which includes Cam trying too hard to bond with Lily, but each time failing even harder at doing so. Here, not only the physical stuff (Cam literally makes her go to the ER three times) is funny, but Lily's sassy remarks are also so enjoyable to watch.

Then, we have a very pregnant Gloria, attempting to hold her baby in just so that he doesn't share a birthday with Manny. Gloria's attempts, Jay's witty one-liners also make this storyline shine. Also, I find this line very relatable, despite having no siblings of my own. You can definitely feel the Modern Family warmth here.

Last storyline, my favourite, includes the Dunphys. I think, despite the episode being named after the newborn Pritchett, this storyline is the main one. Because you get to see that Phil can actually get angry, jealous and all girl-fathery. I usually find this stuff funny, but since it's Phil, it gets twice as funny, since we are not used to seeing him so geniunely angry. We usually see Phil as a father that loves his children, but in this episode it just highlights how important Haley is for Phil, and their last elevator scene is just the sweetest.

Long story short, this episode is perfect in almost every way possible. I watched it many many times, and will keep watching it whenever I'm bored and want to laugh out loud and also get kind of emotional in the end.

Manny's birthday comes along and Jay has forgotten but only to make the upcoming surprise more surprising. Lily is gong through a phase and she gets married to Mitchell which Cameron does not like seeing. Haley's co-worker Kenny comes over and they go out even though he is much older then her, however her parents try to old back from saying anything about Haley's decisions. Gloria and Jay must steal a cake for Manny's upcoming birthday. Lily then gets a toy car and crashes it hurting herself. Gloria and Jay are running late so the two have to drive through the barriers. Claire tells Phil not to do anything about Kenny just because Haley is older now and hopefully will not become a rebel. Mitchell thinks Cameron has been struggling for sometimes but it turns out in general he is doing well with school going well with an example of a performance. The surprise party does not start off well as Manny comes to the house expecting nothing with a girl to kiss only for the family to ruin it with their timing. While Gloria try's to get Manny to come back to the party but somehow because of weird timing the baby wants to come even though she is not letting it. Manny comes down to the family but then Gloria's water breaks and she is about to have the baby. Some more injuries for Lily with the eye patch and being thrown in the water. At the hospital we learn she called for Cameron's help when she fell into the pool. It turns Haley was just trying to trick her parents into giving her some boundaries and then forgives her dad when she hears his true feelings. Gloria has her baby and everyone seems happy at the end. I was expecting the birthing episode to win Vergara an Emmy but this episode did nothing for her and made no point of showing comedy from birth which is good because I would not be able to deal with a screaming Gloria in labour. The episode was just boring and nothing special happened or anything really memorable which is what the show has been like for some time now.
