Could have been worst

(Sorry for possible mistakes, english is not my main language).

This episode was ok, better than the first episodes i would say (which in all case will not be an big achievement if it wasn't from the same show).

The plot is quite simple, because of the murders where the victims are females, the principal and the school counselor (who are Norville's parents) make a self-defense class exclusive for female with help of Daphne's parents, but how the plot itself is managed here is a lot better than in the first two episodes, here the characters start to have their "development" with Velma and Daphne working in their relationship (Not romantic, at least not for now).

For other part, there's the subplot with Norville trying to interrogate Fred for the disappearance of Velma's mom, which is ok and probably the "funniest" part of the episode.

The episode itself as i said is a breath of fresh air compared to the latest two, the chapter ends in a nice way and Velma actually gets what she deserves, being booed after trying to embarrass and ruin Daphne's reputation.

In conclusion, the episode is kinda good and at least for now the best episode in my opinion, BUT before i end a little spoiler, the cliffhanger at the end of the episode isn't explored nor solved or explained in the next episode.

Still bad

Jokes continue to fall flat. The writing continues to fall flat and be extremely smug. And the worst sin of all is that it's completely boring. Nothing has happened, it's going nowhere, it's just mean. It's intersectional posturing trying to be clever but without any ability to actually be clever or remotely funny. I'm convinced this was a different show but it wasn't good enough to stand on its own so they made them Scooby Doo Characters in order to get brand recognition and initial eyeballs. Unfortunately they've just disgraced themselves, made any future animation series so much harder and tainted the beloved Scooby Doo brand.

Yawn.

This is for both Episode 3-4.

I have now watched all 4 episodes of Velma, since it's come out. I will say it started off rough, but is landing somewhere in the middle. (The problem with this show can be broken down to 3 things: the subject matter of the jokes, the pacing/timing of certain things said by characters, and the subplots of each episode.) Don't get me wrong, Episodes 1 & 2 are hot garbage. Whereas episodes 3 & 4, show more promise, I would rate them a 5 out of 10 (each).

To me, Norville/"Shaggy" is slowly becoming the star of the show. When they stray away from whatever subplot is going on with Velma, Norville is actually pushing the show forward, just ok though. It's not great by any means, however, it is a much needed palate cleanser from the 5-10 minute scenes Velma was in prior to cutting in Norville. Even in scenes shared with Velma, he can get a chuckle out of you with the few lines he does have.

Sad to say, the titular character should take a backseat to their own show.

Now Fight!

Warning: Spoilers
This episode explores the dynamic between Daphne and Velma. So much !!!!! After the previous episode.

So they have to fight. But first, they have to make their way through all of the challengers to get to be the final two.

You'd think that Velma would get quickly eliminated but she's more than expected.

We also get tons of awesome Sam Richardson as Norville/Shaggy in this episode.

The Fred stuff is sooooo very weird, but also a lot of fun.

This series really gets better and better with each episode. Teasing out a little more information about the murder mystery at the core. And the mystery of the disappearance of Velma's mom.

I really love this show.
