I started watching this show because I love Kathryn Hahn and almost everything.she is in. This show she is absolutely outstanding in, not only does she deliver a standout performance throughout, she also establishes herself as an amazing character actor with depth and vulnerability, especially by displaying a lot less humour than I had anticipated. The story about her in the present and two past tenses finds its poignant and extremely moving climax in this episode. I just love how the jigsaw puzzle of her character's journey is coming together in this final episode. You don't get all the answers and there is not an all encompassing conclusion, but ultimately the answer is indeed "LOVE'.

Could Be So Much Better

Someone needs to tell the director and the actors that anger and confusion don't always have to be expressed LOUDLY. The relentless screaming in this episode was unbearable. Almost all of it coming from Clair's character, making her even more irritating and unlikable.
Another big problem is that the pivot relationship between Clair and her mother is so underwritten as to make Clair's grief come across as a mental health issue rather than a believable emotional response.
The cast seems competent enough, but the writing and direction fall short. The series could have been, should have been, much better.
