- The main girl character(Amy) has infrequent panty shots throughout the show. This extends to the opening and ending visuals, though the instances are easy to miss.
- A brief discussion about reproduction is had between the main character and a computer. Almost all girls seen thus far wear somewhat revealing clothing. The main character taps a girls backside but not in a sexual way.
- A lot of skimpy swimsuits. Camera angles focus on women's chests and buttocks a lot.
- Bikinis and jiggling butts and breasts. Lots of suggestive dancing and focusing sexually on girls (probably teenagers, but age undetermined).
- Lots of women with ridiculously large breasts that aren't well covered by clothing. i.e. The Pirate Queen leaves little to the imagination.

- While it isn't outright said in the English dub(since Gargantia's residents are speaking a different language from Ledo's perspective), episode 1 does have an adult joke involving profanity of statements having the meanings of "the act of intercourse with one's mother"(motherfucker) and "an exclamation about sanctified excrement"(holy shit).

- Women are held by pirates. One has the front of her shirt torn off (this is shown from behind, nothing is seen).
- A character is "attacked" and chased by transvestites. Although done for humorous effect, this may upset some people.
- Living people are killed 'for the greater good of Humanity'.

- A main character attacks creatures which turn out to be another species of humans. He then realizes that he has slaughtered hundreds of innocents, including children. He is extremely distressed by this.
