Daisy Ridley is moving on from her star-making role as Rey in the recent Star Wars films, having permanently put away her lightsaber with this past December’s Sequel Trilogy closer, The Rise of Skywalker. Consequently, Ridley’s would-be first role after that wild franchise ride could show her in different form, as a psychological profiler in a dark crime drama.
Talks have commenced with studio Stx for Ridley to star in The Ice Beneath Her, an adaptation of Swedish author Camilla Grebe’s 2016 crime novel of the same name, reports Deadline. Should the deal be finalized, then Ridley would be working for the trio of directors—collectively known as Radio Silence—consisting of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett and Chad Villella, who are coming off the hit 2019 comedic horror film, Ready or Not. They will work off an adaptation script by Caitlin Parrish, also joined by producer Andrew Lazar (American Sniper...

Although Star Wars: The Last Jedi has wrapped filming, star Daisy Ridley is keeping herself busy. Variety reports that Ridley will be following figures like Jyn Erso and “many Bothans” into the world of cinematic espionage, having been cast as the lead in World War II-era biopic A Woman Of No Importance. Ridley will play Virginia Hall, a physically disabled American spy who earned the designation “the most dangerous of all Allied spies” from the Nazi Gestapo.
No Importance is just the latest project to bridge the gap in Ridley’s schedule between The Last Jedi and Star Wars: Episode IX. She’s currently filming on Kenneth Branagh’s Murder On The Orient Express, has already finished a Peter Rabbit movie with James Corden, and is attached to a new film, Kolma, from her Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams.

When “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” premiered to box office records and critical acclaim last December, it did so with a female hero front and center. Daisy Ridley introduced cinema to a brand new heroine worth lauding, but not everyone was too happy with the franchise’s new addition, Rey. Fanboys like screenwriter Max Landis criticized the film for making Rey a “Mary Sue,” a fan-fiction term that generally describes a character that is too perfect. The fact that Rey was a scavenger who could perfectly fly a space ship and wield a lightsaber bothered certain viewers, despite the fact that Rey was obviously learning to embrace a side of herself she didn’t knew existed: A jedi.

Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley is jumping on board a potential new film franchise called Chaos Walking, which is being directed by Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow). The film will be an adaptation of a popular young adult novel series written by Patrick Ness.
The first book in the series is called Chaos Walking: The Knife of Never Letting Go, and it’s set in a “dystopian world where all living creatures can hear each other’s thoughts.” Here’s the official book description:
Todd Hewitt is the only boy in a town of men. Ever since the settlers were infected with the Noise germ, Todd can hear everything the men think, and they hear everything he thinks. Todd is just a month away from becoming a man, but in the midst of the cacophony, he knows that the town is hiding something from him -- something so awful...
