I'm just gutted.

Warning: Spoilers
David Eigenberg. Simply amazing. His performance in this episode was an all time great acting job. If you weren't sobbing after this show, you are not human.

His work as Christopher Herrmann has always been the beating heart of the show.

And now with his wife Cindy going through cancer and chemo treatments, you can see the toll it's taking on him.

His valiant attempts to hold himself together for his family are heart wrenching. And the scene with Ritter....devastating.

And brace yourself for the scene with Robynn Coffin as Cindy. It's only a two minute scene, but will ruin you.

David Eigenberg deserves an Emmy.

Big Mistake Coming

I gave this show an 8 despite the absence of Taylor Kinney who may not be on the show again or at least for a year or so - this has been a 10 and one of my 3 most favorite scripted network shows - I rated it an 8 for years and increased my rating to a 10 when Jesse Spence left the show - Good riddance - now with Taylor Kinney leaving and Jesse Spencer coming back for season 11 - this has dropped from a must watch 10 to a " I don't Care if I don't " next year with a rating of a 6 - hard to understand the show runner and Producer thinking but suspect there are a lot of Jesse Spencer fans out there - I am certainly not one of them - he was a melodramatic inclusion for the show with the romantic instincts of a frog and contributed nothing as far as I am concerned.

"Damage Control"

Warning: Spoilers
A fire in a stable to start the episode. That's a new one, I think.

David Eigenberg absolutely steals the show with his portrayal of Hermann going through the ups and downs - mostly downs, it has to be said - of wife Cindy's battle with cancer. This storyline, as I've written previously, has really allowed Eigenberg to shine, taking centre stage when he is so often kind of in the background. With Jesse Spencer gone and Taylor Kinney off the show for an undetermined period of time, the rest of the cast have needed to step into the breach. Consider that mission accomplished for Eigenberg.

The Gallo-Violet situation is resolved, and I didn't see the Carver/Lieutenant Seeger pairing coming, that's for sure. Elsewhere, mandated cuts to non-fire fighting budget areas have caused some drama in the firehouse. Mouch's disbelieving looks each time he discovers that something else has been taken away from him is priceless. A much-needed light and funny storyline in what was quite a heavy episode. Chicago Fire has always been good at balancing the serious with the light, and succeeds again this episode.

But, really, this episode is all about David Eigenberg. Stunning acting.

Warning: Spoilers
When Truck 81 left the Grocery Store due to a Call, Managers & Customers currently in the store at the time of the call finished their grocery shopping & paid for out out of their own pockets as a sign of Appreciation & Thanks and delivered it to the firehouse.

With the way the world is today, we DO NOT see this often enough, and it shows there are people out there who cares about our first responders!

We need more of this backing up our Fire Fighters and EMTs.

With that said, I think Our City & County/Parish governments should not give Fire Fighter that reside in the Firehouse Grief over Grocery & Toiletry expenses, especially the ones who live in the firehouses.

An Emmy performance

Warning: Spoilers
David Eigenberg & his family performance nailed it. Cancer is terrible on all members. Ritter reaching out to comfort Hermann was beautiful. This episode belongs on the Emmy nominations!

The stable fire detailed heroic saves of personnel, and horses. Wonderful compassion displayed for victims, firefighters and animals. Investigation by Kidd, Seager and Carver also a good focus point. Wonder what will happen next on that score.

Delighted to see Violet and Gallo getting closer; nice that Sylvie and Dylan trying again; and she may grow to like hockey.

Budget challenge to Kylie and reaction from firehouse is a great new focus.
