Rushed episode, uncharacteristic behaviour
eunbi053029 August 2023
It is understandable what they were trying to achieve with this episode, but it was so poorly written.

For instance, this trope of the young adult easily corrupted by external influence is quite common, but, maybe for the lack of episodes, it feels so rushed. Magne feels pressured and wronged by several reasons: his mum lost her job and she wasn't able to collect what was rightfully hers, his girlfriend was pressuring to get answers on why he acts odd lately (it wasn't what she said, but how she said it), how his environmental concern is blocked by people's fears. All those things tale a toil on all of us, but it all changed in less than a day.

It is a late rebellious phase and so uncharacteristic for the character, even considering the whole thing that is going on.

Why is our hero. Magna, so weak minded
gibbz4 September 2023
He is duped by his hammer He is duped by the giants.

He needs a massive punch in the head just to get him straight.

He's not 007. He's not John Wick. No invincible resolve. He's. A struggling superhero who needs to be more focused, confident, and trustworthy. If we can't trust Magna, who can we trust?

Think of Mercutio. Think of Caesar. Constant as the northern star.

I was not convinced by the easily changing character traits. Known characters acting abnormally wimpish or contrary for no clear reason? Wtf? It looked like the writers took over, regardless of the established character traits. Consult your ACTORS.

Great series so far. Looks like season 3 was overly ambitious, reaching for the stars, pushing all the global buttons, sacrificing their characters' integrity at times.

But I'm loyal. I'm in it for tge long haul.

Could be one of the worst ever
TimDiesel17 September 2023
I got into this series from the beginning because it was fun, fantastical, but grounded. Marvel is a spectacle, but this? Much more "believable".

Yeah, I know.

But it felt like it was a better representation of what it would be like if gods walked amongst us. And then we arrive at this series, and in particular, this episode. What is this? Riverdale? This is the most teeny-drama episode I've seen of the franchise.

Magne makes decisions that are completely unlike any that he's made in the past. He's immature, vindictive, and just silly. The dialogue is awful. The plot is awful. God, I think 4 stars is too generous, but I did like the preceding episodes. Not sure I'll finish the series now.

This episode doesn't fit with seasons 1 & 2

Warning: Spoilers
Why has every character gone off the rails except for Odin and the two moms, Ran & Turid? Nobody is acting like the same people in the first two seasons.

Why is mojlnir suddenly a corrupting figure?

What is the timeline here? Why are final grades happening and then everyone is right back in high school? Isn't Magne like 20 at this point?

Why is Fjir not in school anymore but Saxa is? Why is hepretending to go hiking in a suit? Why is he so mean to the new accountant and how was she only employed for 2 days yet had an entire HR complaint against Fjir?

Why is Laurits living in the woods and scrounging for food after being rejected by the Jutuls? His mom Turid is so permissive that it doesn't make sense.

Is Laurits even in school to pretend he's doing a project on food waste?

Why is Ran confiding giant information and smoking with her / the school's therapist? The therapist doesn't act like a therapist.

The writers and Netflix ruined what was a fantastic series by producing this nonsensical third season.
