The luxury liner sails to Sicily and a family saga unfolds. Successful businessman Roberto is terminally ill and is returning to his homeland with his three children and his new wife, Freya, who he wants to take over the business when the time comes. When death duly strikes in the heat of the Sicilian sun, Jack and First Officer Kate must penetrate a devious web of secrets to unmask the killer.

Fun episode with everything presented in a robust fashion - plenty of suspects and a killer twist at the end. Of course, the subplot of Kate getting jealous of Jack getting romantic with the daughter of the dead man is interesting. Still, I find Kate a little up herself.

Arguably the best episode.

The Di Marco family arrive on board the ship, but the celebrations are cut short, when Father, Roberto, explains that he's passing on the family business to his new wife, not his children.

The Italian episode, it was always going to be a bit on the camp side, the question was, how much? As you'd expect it was big and bold, we had the mafia-esque patriarch, and the greedy family, we also had The Godfather style music, and a murder scene worthy of The Opera.

Maybe the best episode from the first series, definitely the most serious of the lot, I thought this was rather good. A good number of clues, and the will they, won't they scenario between

I was expecting to see Vincenzo Nicoli pop up, and here he is, such a charismatic actor, he stood out for me. Was the excellent Edward De Gaetano a little wasted here?

8/10.

Warning: Spoilers
I'm enjoying watching The Good Ship Murder, and here we are as reach the end of season one. Here Jack gets entangled with the Italian boss of some large company (ice-cream I think, bringing back memories of the Scottish movie Comfort and Joy), and also we are led to believe that Jack crosses the line by doing the beast with two backs with a passenger, who happens to be the daughter of the victim. As it turns out Jack didn't do the beast with two backs, but he wanted to init. Anyway, at the end Jack has a videoconference call with his daughter Mia.

Also, at the end, Jack sings ABC's The Look of Love with Beverley Carnell (Claire Sweeney) performing back-up vocals. We also learn that Piers has set the wedding with Kate for 25 June in Brussels, Belgium.
