Blew My Expectations
httpbadger15 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Oshi No Ko. What a pleasant surprise for a first episode. I'll be completely honest, as a blind viewer going into this, I thought it would've put me to sleep within the first 10 minutes. Boy was I dead wrong. And for the first episode to be a staggering 80 mins. I wasn't sure what direction they were going, but my jaws were on the floor from the last 15 minutes. From the way this is animated and the vibes it was giving, I was really thinking it was gonna be another generic slice of life. The closest show I can compare this to with the fact that it seems really childish at the start but abruptly gets dark and violent out of nowhere is Invincible. I don't know how but they've only released the first episode and it already feels like a completed film, this is an exceptional masterpiece of a pilot as it gradually sets up the storyline for the next plot points to develop and I'm looking forward to it.

PROS -
  • Gorgeous animation (eyes in this anime are literal eye candy, the fluidity of the pop idols choreography, its studio responsible for this is definitely going in with great care and maximising details in the animation)
  • Strong storyline.

  • Every character is interesting

CONS -
  • That post credits scene was too much man :(

Just wow 💔

Watching the episode, I was very attuned. I thought it was just an ordinary anime, but this anime is the true example of the word "Don't judge a book by its cover." After I watched the episode, I sat and pondered, thinking, "Should I remain silent, or should I search for letters and words that describe this visual, profound, and touching masterpiece. Great writing... Great characters.. great philosophy. An ending that I consider one of the greatest endings for any episode in the history of anime. An anime that shows you the suffering of famous people and that what you see on screen is not always the truth. Anime that shows you that you do not know what this person is hiding and what is happening in this person's life of suffering. Wow. From a great writer, the anime is different with a new story, and this thing has become very rare. Philosophy of drama and tears. In the last 10 minutes of the episode, everything changes from a happy anime to a dramatic anime with a great, deep philosophy. Beginning with the greatest Just 10/10.

THIS IS PEAK

Oshi no ko works with an unusual approach, but one that delves into the lesser known of the world in which it takes place, in a very detailed way, so that the difference between a work as it is and the others is extremely visible. It really hasn't caught your attention for a long time because of its synopsis, but it is a work that deserves to be seen, I did not expect it to be such a well-structured work and with a very consistent rhythm, which makes it one of the best entries in a work In its number one chapter, a very well planned story, with characters consistent with the main message of the work, makes Oshi no ko the best that anyone can see today.

"For me, lies are a way of expressing love"

This is the first time I've reviewed an individual episode.

Oh boy. I mean, I'm still trying to process what I've just witnessed. Right now, I don't think words like "amazing" or "brilliant" are enough to describe how I felt about this episode. So I'm going to go with - UNBELIEVABLE. I mean this was a movie-length episode, and it was a masterpiece. You know it's the fact that I was already so hyped for this anime, and it still managed to surprise me so incredibly, that's what amazed me.

Let me just calm down a bit and tell you why I liked it so much. First of all the plot is definitely very weird. And the initial 10 minutes will in fact feel weird. But afterwards I realised that this story takes its characters very seriously. It explores emotions, that I just wasn't ready for. It really explores what it means to be an actress, or be in the entertainment industry. And it's not just about how deep it explores these things, it's about how well it did it. I can't spoil exactly what all I liked in case you know nothing about the story. But I really liked all the characters and how they portrayed their own troubles. And man, the story took some turns that I just wasn't expecting. I was not expecting something like this from the author of Love is War. I mean there is some nice comedy as well, but the story and the drama is going to completely steal the show.

And seriously, I cried, and I was just not ready for that. Doga Kobo's art and animation is great too. And the direction that this story took towards the end of the episode was just unbelievable. I think an incredibly entertaining story is on our way and I just can't wait.

If I could rate this episode alone, I would've given it a 10/10. But I'll have to resist my temptation and wait for the entire anime to come out.

But seriously, this anime deserves all the hype that it's receiving.

Perfect

I still can't believe it that what I've seen, cause This episode was literally perfect. I know it's a start for whole serie but you can count it a complete movie.

I felt everything, including fear, hatred, happiness and sadness. Even characters are kawaii! In my opinion if you mix (perfect blue - kaguya sama - erased), you'll get this.

The storyline, graphic and even voice actors are great. It has lots of ups and downs that I enjoyed every second of it. I liked it how very clearly and beautifully shows the realities behind the entertainment screen

Additionally, I've seen many brilliant animes, but I haven't written a review for any of them, so don't miss it out.
