HBO Max, the upcoming WarmerMedia streaming service, has given pilot orders to single-camera comedy Gumshoe, from writers Aaron Brownstein & Simon Ganz, director Randall Einhorn (The Kids Are Alright) and Conan O’Brien’s Conaco; and 1990s drama Vegas High, from writer Sarah-Raquel Jimenez, director Gillian Robespierre (Mrs. Fletcher) and Michael Showalter’s Semi-Formal Prods. HBO Max is the studio on both.
Written by Brownstein and Ganz (Santa Clarita Diet) and directed by Einhorn (The Kids Are Alright), Gumshoe is about a sweet, optimistic young cop and a creepy, crime-obsessed teenager who secretly team up to solve a murder.

To the list of TV revivals and revisits, add Britain’s beloved and widely traveled “Gavin & Stacey.”
The BBC announced Tuesday that it would catch up with the doings of the eponymous couple and their friends and family this Christmas after a nearly 10-year hiatus. The hourlong special is written by James Corden and Ruth Jones, who together created, wrote and co-starred in the original show.
“Gavin & Stacey” ran for three seasons from 2007 to 2010, including a previous Christmas special in 2008. The series followed the long-distance and then up-close romance of Gavin (Mathew Horne) from Essex, outside London, and Stacey (Joanna Page) from Barry, in Wales. Corden and Jones played the pair’s best friends, Smithy and Nessa.
“Over the last 10 years we’ve talked a lot about Gavin and Stacey – where they might be today and what their lives might look like. And so in secret we took the...

NBC has put in development The Obsolescents, a single-camera comedy from writer Andrew Gottlieb (The Dangerous Book for Boys), Meg Ryan, Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video and Universal TV where the company has a deal. Ryan is executive producing the project and will potentially star.
Written by Gottlieb, The Obsolescents takes place in a New Jersey suburb where the facade of peace and civility is disrupted by the shocking death of a long-time Township Council member.
Gottlieb and Ryan executive produce alongside Broadway Video’s Michaels and Andrew Singer. Ryan recently had a comedy starring vehicle, which came close to a series order at Epix. Except for occasional guest appearances — most notably on Web Therapy — she has not been a series regular since the short-lived 1985 ABC Western Wildside.

Jason Ritter and Alexis Bledel will finally get their rom-com on.
Us & Them, a single-camera comedy starring the pair that was initially set to air on Fox during the 2013-14 broadcast season, will finally see the light of day when all seven episodes are released exclusively on Sony Crackle, TVLine has confirmed. The series will be available to stream beginning Monday, Oct. 1.

April 10th is going to be a momentous day to be a cult genre fan, as we have a bevy of home media releases that folks are surely going to want to add to their Blu-ray and DVD collections. Arrow Video’s two-disc limited edition set for Dario Argento’s Deep Red looks absolutely incredible, and Scream Factory is keeping busy with a few releases of their own, including Larry Cohen’s Full Moon High, Crucible of Horror, and Superbeast. And as if all that wasn’t enough, Kino Classics is resurrecting The Psychopath in HD as well (which I personally cannot wait to revisit myself).
We also have several new genre-related movies coming our way, too: Ted Geoghegan’s Mohawk, My Friend Dahmer, Are We Not Cats, and Us & Them. Other notable releases for Tuesday, April 10th include Braven, Grindsploitation Trilogy, Disembodied and Enigma Rosso/Red Rings of Fear.

A familiar face will make another encore during Season 6 of Arrow.
Series lead Stephen Amell teased via Twitter that Colin Donnell is back on set at the CW superhero drama, though one can only speculate how the late Tommy Merlyn will “return” this time. (Amell’s tweet ruled out the notion of a flashback.) The news comes on the heels of reports that Caity Lotz will bring Sara Lance back to Arrow for its season finale.
Earlier this season, Donnell appeared in the “Crisis on Earth-x” crossover event, as that alternate world’s Nazi version of Tommy. The actor can...

Twitter often costs people jobs, not helps land them. Former BuzzFeed writer Jack Moore's feed got him staffed on Fox's upcoming Alexis Bledel/Jason Ritter sitcom Us & Them, about online romance. Since its debut in December, his @seinfeldtoday -- whose 617,000 followers include Jason Alexander -- has become an industry favorite for its perfectly pitched contemporary loglines for the '90s hit. (Sample: "Jerry discovers Newman is secretly an Internet-famous fan fiction writer. George gets aroused reading 50 Shades of Grey, questions self.")
