A huge step up from last week
jc120123 October 2023
I'm shocked that after so much vitriol and calamity levied at this show after Justin Roiland's ousting that they wouldn't have started this season with it's best foot forward, and last week's mid-to-poor outing had me VERY worried. If that was the best they could do now, I guess Rick and Morty's over, right?

WRONG, thankfully - this episode was a fantastic true to form sci fi tour de force that, aping Star Trek Voyager's abomination "Tuvix", maintains a level of hilarity and jokes per minute that rival excellent episodes from seasons of old. The two new voice actors bring their a-game to this (especially Rick, who's uniformly spot on) - if you transported this back four years and shoved it into season 4 there's no way I would have noticed the change.

Let's hope the rest of the season is more like "The Jerrick Trap", and light on poopy buttholes.

Not as good, but far better

Warning: Spoilers
After digging Rick and Morty ep. 1 with a score of 4, it wouldn't be fair if I don't review ep. 2.

It really changed the game, in many ways.

The series now portrays a new formula. May be the Morty's voice has some work finding its right place. Having Rick pairing with other characters is bringing a weirdness into the traditional Rick & Morty's dynamics.

Justin Roiland out of the scene has brought changes, not all bad. Anyway I would like him to return.

The idea of Jerry's fusion with Rick was a clever one, Rick became more human and Jerry was enjoying himself having more tools (intelligence) to face life. Both of them found their missing half and that brought comfort to their misery. The script had many good moments.

I don't regret throwing episode 1 in the trash and I don't regret changing again my mind about the direction of the TV show.

It was good and hope it gets better yet!

Heyyyy... that's pretty good!

Warning: Spoilers
Pretty solid follow-up. Wouldn't have made a great season premiere, but it's still a fitting adition to the series.

This one feels much closer to the Rick and Morty series I love than the previous episode (which I didn't actually hate but yeah). Takes the Freaky Friday premise and makes it much more fascinating and even a bit different m/original.

I personally like the Jerry-Rick episodes, but this may be the best one so far. We actually learn some things about these two. Rick doesn't just like Jerry a bit, he also deeply loves the man despite his cringe. Jerry doesn't totally despise Rick, he may even be jealous of how "cool" Rick is.

The merging of their minds was hilarious but also a very entertaining concept. I do think it could have been awesome seeing this happen with Rick and Morty instead, but this was still quite good. Taking the polar opposites and making them kind of get along and actually realize neither is as horrible as the other thinks.

Jerricky was... unsettling.

Rick and Morty have made me eat my words!
declantill25 October 2023
Last week I wrote a short and pretty scathing review of the first episode of series 7...and for good reason, poor plot, no morty...and the voices. Rick was too high, Mr PB was like a bad parody and it felt like an AI generated version of the show.

This week however, miles different, not only an engaging plot but we got to see some beautiful shots with some really funny characters...and the voices...WERE GOOD! I though Rick was close to being spot on. I wonder if Ian Cardoni filmed this episode towards the end of the series 7 production because it really does feel like he's grown into rick here.

Have to say I'm surprised, maybe Rick and Morty isn't dead. Maybe it's just beginning...Either way I'll be here next week to tune in!

Rising Again
babakkarimiasl-5764824 October 2023
This episode was really good . There is a different quality of writing in season 7 compared to 6 , IMO it got back closer to the true spirit of Rick and Morty.

This show is rising again . I hope this season bring back the Rick and Morty that i loved. Until now , it was good , i liked the s07e01 too , lets see what will happen.

One thing, the new rick's voice is a little off . I wish it wasn't.

I don't know if i would eventually become ok with the Rick's new voice.

Justin's voice had a special texture to it , although i think in season 6 he didn't sometimes really convey the true feelings of characters , but still .

positively surprised

An interesting episode, not so focused on humor, but rather on a new vision for Jerry, I thought it was cool (the post-credits scene was cool too).

I was happy that the other characters in the family were present in this ep, unlike the premiere, this makes a lot of difference from Summer's little jokes to Beth and Morty's important reflections, I hope it continues like this.

Thinking about the rest of the season, I don't think this ep will have much impact, but I thought it worked well compared to the other eps that had Jerry's relationship with Rick as the main focus. I hope Jerry now has more cool background stories with Beth, and Space Beth returns too.

Very heartfelt
ballbreakervbucks23 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It's always good to see rick deal being wholesome and this episode gave us alot of that and it further expanded on his relationship with Jerry and thats always cool to see. Def one of my fav rick and morty eps. In the previous episode, the critics were talking about how the voices seem very weird and the characters have different personalities but i myself didn't notice a change in the voices and if i hadn't already known they changed them i would have stayed ignorant, same goes for the characters. They're still very comedic and charismatic and an episode doesn't necessarily need to contain either rick or Morty to be good.

Crystal episod + Whirly Dirly episode
masoud_ahmadi24 October 2023
Definitely better than the first episode, but hey, which episode isnt?

But if I want to consider the first 3-4 seasons as standard, still not a good episode. The main problem is that in the recent seasons, they were not able to develop new ideas and new characters. The thing that R&M was great at. So, they just go and grab characters and ideas from previous seasons. For example, they developed so many cool characters in the first season that you cannot even count. But, in the previous season and these two episodes, almost no new character is introduced that stands out. This episode also just reminds me of previous episode ideas: The Whirly Dirly Conspiracy, the Vat of Acid episode and Final DeSmithation. Enough with Jerry and Rick friendship and episodes if you do not have new ideas. I do not know about others, but this show is not as fun for me to watch as it used to be; I do not feel that enthusiasm while watching it.

#Jerricky (Must-Watch)
sujithkumark-6978723 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The idea behind this episode is mind-blowing and totally unpredictable just like a classic rick and Morty episode. I like how they included certain dark humor, and some jokes all around. Making this one of the best episodes in Rick and Morty. Rick and Jerry swap their minds(not brains) and see how it is to be the smartest man and dumbest man in the universe. On the other side, Morty goes to sell crystal meth under the nose of the villain's territory. They used a classic villain situation And because of their stupidness, the villain abducts Rick's family. See rick and Jerry go along and do awesome stuff to get them back. Must Watch.

Just A Bit Off.
benlestermusic23 October 2023
I've never written a review before but felt compelled to for this. The whole episode just felt - off. I actually really enjoyed the previous episode but this one just felt like very well-done fan-fiction. The humour wasn't quite there, the plot didn't quite gel, and the characters didn't quite feel like themselves. That and Rick's voice is ever so slightly jarring which takes you out of the experience. It was entertaining enough, but even then it wasn't an entirely satisfactory watch. Rick and Morty has had bad episodes before (looking at you, incest baby), but even they have "felt" like Rick and Morty. This episode has a sort of uncanny valley feel to it. Whether it's the loss of Roiland as voice actor, scriptwriter or producer is irrelevant - his presence is missing.

RICK AND JERRY EPISODE!
menegazzocaio2 November 2023
This episode is so exciting... one of my favorites in the series for sure! At first it seems like a basic comedy and science fiction episode, similar to an existing Futurama episode, but little by little it escalates and becomes more and more hilarious, creative and sentimental. The script is very well written, with references and parodies /satires of mafia films from the 80s and 90s with science fiction and very acid comedy in between, all of this together with a lot of heart and originality.

I also really liked the design of the new characters here, and the extremely violent and grotesque scenes.

Felt like Rick and morty at its best and then we got the lamest plot twist possible
audantcp1 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Went into this seeing the lower scores (for Rick and morty) and was pleasantly surprised: unique plot, new challenge for Rick to overcome, well-written dialogue; it felt like Rick and morty should always feel. That is, until the "plot twist."

When they were about to get their minds back into their respective brains I expected them to turn on each other and try and be the one in the end to keep their mind the way it is, until something is revealed/resolved then we could satisfyingly separate minds... the writers had other plans.

Although I will say it was unexpected for them to fuse together, by the end you could tell they ran out of ideas and did it for no reason other than lazy writing. What could have easily been a 9/10 or even 10/10 episode was dropped to a 7 (more realistically a 6.5) because the writers are giving up, while we cling to hope.

Already did this in Whirly Dirly Conspiracy
jijo-sonicforce31 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The entire episode is based on the friendship nuggets of Rick and Jerry, which has already been done- IN A MUCH BETTER WAY, in the Whirly Dirly Conspiracy episode.

In that episode there was a clear motive, a solid plot, and beautiful resolution. In this Jerricky episode all of that is missing. It's just basically them running a bunch on heists (just random running and shooting stuff), and ending on an emotional tangent which didn't feel deep enough, even though the basic plot premise was lifted off the Whirly Dirly. Seems like writers have completely run out of ideas.

I think Rick and Morty may never again reach the heights of the first 3 seasons. However, I do enjoy the occasional gem like Vat of Acid episode. However, this season the writers have completely missed the essence of what truly used to make Rick and Morty so special.

I will enjoy reruns of the first 3 seasons though, again and again. They will forever remain among the greatest and most intelligent animation I've seen, ever.

Why am I first now?
ericstevenson24 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Okay, this episode was very confusing, but it was still really awesome. The plot is that Rick and Jerry switch IQs, but end up dying or something. Their computer puts their brains back together, but they each have different parts of each other's brains. It's anyone's guess as to what parts of their personalities were merged. Then again, they do become more similar, especially at the very end, so I guess they were equal after all. They save their families from a crime boss after fusing their bodies into Jerricky.

I KNEW there'd be a name merge in this. Maybe you could have called one Rirry and the other Jeck. Being hit with a rake separates their personalities again. I just love that caterpillar design. Don't remind me of "The Human Centipede". This had some great action too.

I just loved how this was very different for a Freaky Friday Flip episode. I don't think I've ever seen this idea being down before. I guess we didn't need Justin Roiland after all. I completely forgot about Memory Rick. This is what happens when a long running cartoon has continuity! This really is a show with great bloody action. ****

Necessary episode to make Jerry/Rick dynamic interesting again
gawarof23 December 2023
This episode is simple. But it works. They might have had a Rick & Jerry episode but this one is different. In the current state of the show, a Rick & Jerry episode was required. The characters are different & this episode does well in upgrading the dynamic.

The episode delves into the character traits

In almost every episode, it seems like Jerry takes the fall. He keeps on becoming a irrelevant character, a ragdoll to throw jokes at.

This episode on the other hand carries on the trend of Rick losing control. Jerry seems to be getting a lot more involved & bold then he ever would be. While Rick is having to deal with human nature.

better but still not good
nerrdrage25 March 2024
Yet another idea that really goes nowhere interesting. What has happened to this series' strength, the creative development of an interesting or even mediocre premise?

This is better than last week with its who-cares premise. This one is more interesting, because it tackles the Rick/Jerry dynamic, always one of the more interesting pairings in this show.

It riffs on a hoary old sci fi trope, the mind-switch, but mixes up the rules in a new chaotic way. The problem is, it just continues the chaos, and doesn't really develop these new rules into something unexpected but logical if not inevitable.

Welcome Back
GraXXoR28 February 2024
So nice to have the show back at its prime... Hell, you could even say that Rick and Jerry together was MORE than the sum of their parts... Literally.

This reminds me of the first few seasons where every character, regardless of their "alignment" were likeable without the sort of sourness that seeped in to some of the previous episodes... And where Rick had to solve a conundrum whilst paying homage to a movie or series franchise on the sly..

For me, this was a clear homage to John Wick and Morty was the Dead Puppy....

As the best episodes do, this one escalated quickly and stratospherically before being brought back to Earth with a well placed plot item rather than a late-series R&M Ex Machina.
