Warning: Spoilers
Melbourne come in with good form, being talked up quite a bit here, with Lyon and Tingay out. No score halfway through the opening term, until Lovell breaks the ice from the boundary, off a poor kickout by Champion. Jakovich with back to back goals and Brett Lovett a quality mark and goal, the Demons take a 27-point lead into quarter-time, with the Bears still goalless. Melbourne kick on in the 2nd and looking like an early blowout, with Brisbane still yet to register a goal late in the term. I know Brisbane's a bottom side, but they have quality players on the field. Matthew Febey goals from outside 50. Champion has picked up his play, but the Bears still go into halftime goalless, down 56 points. Lappin eventually gets Brisbane on the board in the 3rd, before Jakovich slots his fifth. The Demons with a game-winning 61-point lead at 3-quarter time and go on to win by 87 points. Melbourne dominated the hit-outs and had a lot more of the footy, for a significant 21 more scoring shots. Brett Lovett best afield, with 22 disposals, 4 marks, 3 tackles and 2 goals. Steven Febey 39 disposals and 4 marks. Jakovich 8 marks and 6 goals. Lovell 23 disposals, 4 marks and 2 goals. Matthew Febey 35 disposals, 10 marks, 3 tackles and a goal.

3. (Melb) B. Lovett, 2. (Melb) S. Febey, 1. (Melb) A. Jakovich.
