The comeback
carlosandresfv-947086 November 2023
This episode is what I expect when I go to see an episode of Rick and Morty; not just another random intergalactic/interdimensional adventure. Throughout the series, I've seen the moral and philosophical dilemmas dealt with in a dynamic and entertaining way and that's how many of us got caught up in the series. So this episode is what I've been waiting for for a while: a story that provides more than just empty entertainment, that takes on a sensitive subject and yet doesn't seem to give you any food for thought, but does give you a sense of what the writers think about it. It feels like the first seasons.

A must watch episode for spaghetti lovers!
awsafzidane6 November 2023
"If you're asking whether this was a story about right and wrong, the answer is, I don't care."

After the first 3 episodes of this season, I was worried that R&M has lost its charm. And then they deliver this instant classic. Masterful writing. A great commentary on capitalism, consumerism, and ethics.

The way this episode started, I knew something is fishy, but I definitely did not expect it to be so twisted. Even the opening disclaimer could not have prepared me for this. A lot of the viewers might find this distasteful (pun intended), but this a genuinely well written episode. More of such messed up stories, please.

Solid episode. Back to the roots.
gina_gemini6 November 2023
Wow, I had a great feeling at the end of this episode. Reminded me of how this show felt during the first seasons. Great story, pushing some boundaries and for bonus points a BEAUTIFUL musical number.

The new voices were almost indistinguishable. Didn't notice anything out of place. When you see a whole episode and don't get reminded of the change I think we can safely say we're over that hump.... I really like these standalone story lines, especially if they're done this well. The season started kind of shaky but there has been a slow but steady line of improvement and I hope they can keep it up.

"It wasn't the death, it was the complexity of life"

Warning: Spoilers
Felt like a classic Rick and Morty episode. It's shocking how it went for extremely dark humor to be one of the most emotional episode of the show. First half of the episode was the funniest thing I've seen in this season so far. The interactions between Rick and Morty are gold. And I couldn't stop laughing after Morty's speech at the funeral.

But it was the ending what made this an episode to be always remembered. That montage with the music was so emotional. It makes you think about what your life exactly is. Whoever is responsible for the soundtrack did a great job.

And it is definitely an episode you can rewatch many times. Maybe then it loses its schock value, but not its emotional value.

Genius episode that takes you through a roller-coaster of emotions
tookieuk7 November 2023
This episode was top class. Fun for the whole ride, hilarious, but poignant at the same time. A great critique of (so-called) ethically sourced products and the human condition, along with our hypocrisy and consumerism to go with it.

Right from the initial disclaimer at the start of the episode, I was curious to see how this episode was going to tackle this particular area. I'm not sure how but it managed to do it without being clichéd and made me genuinely think and reflect.

Rick and Morty at its best. Making you laugh, wince, cringe and then start questioning why Italian food tastes so good! 10/10.

The greatest episode of Rick and Morty to be published
jesssaltmarsh6 November 2023
The premise of this episode is simple yet chaotic, something Rick and Morty has been praised in the past for specialising in. In this episode, Morty discovers that the "special spaghetti" that Rick has been serving is actually, in an insane twist, the flesh of an alien version of humanity that upon killings themselves, turn into spaghetti.

This concept is wacky, and fantastic, and immediately seats the viewer in for a "classic Rick and Morty adventure" of sorts.

Something special, my friends, about Rick and Morty is that since those classic adventures first happened, there has been a lot of character development. The show itself has taken up a more serious tone, given the characters more passion. And the writers have taken this and melded it with the premise so well that the outcome is an episode so shocking and heart-wrenchingly complex that I myself am stunned.

I cannot praise this episode enough. Please, whether you're a fan of Rick and Morty or not, please watch this episode. It is, without a doubt, one of the greatest things to come from this show and by far the best episode to have come from it as of writing this review.

This is not just a silly wacky episode. This is art. Something I did not expect upon starting the episode and something I still struggle to come to terms with and accept.

A morbid return to form.
noxaman7 November 2023
While the episode itself wasn't quite in the top 10, I think this represents a recommitment to the morbid nihilist humor that made the show so popular in the first place. The series never really shied away from shock humor, but season 5 showed that shock alone doesn't make great entertainment. Season 5 was all shock, no humor. Season 6 was all humor, no shock.

It really is a ray of hope to see this show has found a way to make the macabre and absurd feel smart again, even if the episode didn't have any moral to the story. I had a lot of fun watching this one. It definitely seems adult swim was leading with it's weak episodes this season.

Finally a Great episode
rabidur6 November 2023
When the plot and storyline is good, you dont even notice the voice change that much. This episode was great and probably the best of season 7 so far. I loved the concept of it. This was the first episode of season 7, which had both rick and morty for a substantial amount and I was invested in the plot. So, the voice change didn't bother me.

Also loved the message behind the episode. How ignorance is a bliss. We people always talk about humanity, morality .........but only it doesn't directly affect us. We just intentionally choose to ignore the problem when it affect our own lives. Who cares about what's happening far away for us ? Let's just enjoy our spaghetti, right ?

Rebirth
zachariahvandergraaf6 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Honestly I considered this show to be dead a couple seasons ago (except for a couple of sparkles of life here and there). Then this came out, one of the most clever episodes of the whole series. The extreme moral ambiguity of the entire plot renders this episode a great commentary on euthanasia and I love the fact that the episode does not feel gore until the end when a change in perspective given by a deepest emotional connection towards the source of the spaghetti happens: witnessing to Fred's life and death is as heartbreaking as the Vat of Acid montage. The fact that the base concept is this ridiculous makes this episode even more intelligent. The calm way in which the inhabitants of the planet react to seeing another person's guts being eaten is extremely irrealistic and the post-credit scene is terrible but whatever, the episode is great anyway.

Also "Do you have a euthanation chamber ready to go?" "It's just a place." feels like plot.

A step in the right direction
harryallwood6 November 2023
Compared to the previous 3 episodes, this one feels the most like the classic rick and morty we know and love. This episode has the hilariously random plot older rick and morty has, and also includes more interactions between rick, morty and the family. It won't go down as the best episode in the shows history, but anyone criticising this needs to lighten up a bit and remember rick and morty is about random adventures in space, which this episode is. Yes the voices (especially morty's in this episode) are off but it's similar enough to be bearable. So far season 7 has been below par, but this episode in particular feels like it could be in any of the earlier seasons.

Great premise but...
yagocasariego7 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I thought that the premise was really original and interesting. It was very strange and macabre and couldn't wait to see where they were going to go from that.

But the rest of the episode was very straight forward, kind of boring and predictable. The structure is very simple and the jokes weren't that funny to me. Also, it's like the eight time they do a "tragic life montage", it doesn't feel that fresh anymore.

I get why everyone likes it, it's a really original premise and it's probably the best episode of this season so far (not that difficult tho), but it lacks in comparison to the greatest episodes of the show.

Quintessential Rick and Morty
nathanrusch-9897815 November 2023
This episode is exactly what anyone would want from Rick and Morty. It takes a interesting concept and combines it with an excellent plot and more importantly, great jokes. The break-neck pacing and character consistency also massively contribute to an all around extremely entertaining 21 minutes. Episodes like these are perfect to introduce someone to the show, one that doesn't overthink what makes this show so great. This episode is proof that the voice acting was never the problem, and with consistent quality writing, the change will be completely irrelevant. I look forward to the rest of the season, to see if this is a sign of things to come.

Writing & Voice Acting Continues to Suffer
cwigtil-756247 November 2023
Too much of this episode relies on previous plot points that rehash, rather than develop, previous show ideas. The implications of decisions over life and death, and Rick's amoral orientation, aren't much different from themes we've seen before in Mortynight Run or Morty's Mind Blowers or episodes with Roy or any of the major Beth episodes. I was surprised that the conceit was more than just an opener, but rather the entire plot.

What's more, Belden's acting isn't as comedically on point as we're accustomed to. While I acknowledge that taking over for a previous voice actor is no easy task, the timing and delivery still need to be winning to the audience. Although Belden's performance has improved, there are several times when better timing and delivery could have saved a joke, or a mood, or both. For a conceit and plot which demand so much from the audience, the actors must therefore meet the challenge. Cardoni's Rick performance does this; Belden's performance as Morty does not. It's apparent why Morty has been featured so much less this season.

The high point continues to be the dedicated animators. Their excellent work should not be overlooked, even as the show continues drifting.

Increasingly, the show can simply be called, "The Adventures of Rick." What's more, it's starting to feel as though the writers are running out of ideas. Surprisingly, this is happening four episodes into a season where our characters are no longer limited by a multiverse where Rick is Numero Uno. Is it timidity? Boredom? Lack of collaboration? Only a portal gun to the writer's room can answer this question.

The first episode of Rick and Morty that I couldn't even finish watching
Loukiz8 November 2023
The title should say it all. No fun at all, not even in a remote way comparable to the first or second season as some other reviews are suggesting. Just grotesque and awful.

The other episodes in this season were actually quite tolerable even if not quite up to where they used to be but it seems that they have completely lost their way and the idea of what made the show funny in the first place.

It used to be a sarcastic and quite intelligent type of humor which got replaced by a more obscene and simply gross and plain kind of humor and this episode is just the pinnacle of all that went wrong with the show.

A vary brave yet masterful episode
gsh-346696 November 2023
A very well written episode that is dark and very funny. The changes in voices were very noticeable in this episode but that does not change the fact that this was an awesome episode. Its bound to divide opinions because of the nature of comedy but all in all it was a great episode. It had tons of easter eggs and hidden details, has a lot of quintessential Rick and Morty episode traits like Morty trying to do his own thing, not working out, and coming back to Rick or the epic mini arcs with music that are always a treat to watch. Excited to see what's more in season 7 as the writing is proving promising in episode like this and the Jericky one.

Normal at first, beautiful in the end
oonktom6 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
In the beginning I was surprised to see that this episode was just a bit gore. After getting a trigger warning before the episode started, I expected a more calm episode. However, we got our typical bit of Rick and morty fun, with all the craziness that is combined with it. During this episode the watcher slowly gets more and more confronted with the concept of suicide and depression that is tied with it. I would say waves of funny things and confronting things pass, with the usual Rick and Morty bizarreness.

It is only later in the episode that the real message of the episode is being broadcasted to the viewer. A view in the life of someone that is lost, but finds himself back, and has a wonderful life afterwards. Even though I have never really dealt with depression (I think), this final story made something loose in me. It made me hopeful. It gave me goosebumps.

All in all, I am happy and grateful that the makers put a light on this heavy subject, in only a way that Rick and Morty can do. I sincerely hope that episodes like this will make the subject less of a taboo, and makes people talk about it.

Classic Rick and Morty
SlimJim4456 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I've been skeptical of season 7, mainly because I wasn't blown away by the first three episodes. I thought each episode was solid, but the only one that I really liked was "The Jerrick Trap." Otherwise, it's been an average showing. I know many fans are going to write off the entire season for the recasting in voice actors alone, but that has never been an issue with me. Something just felt off about the writing, but I'm glad to say this is one of my favorite episodes of the series. Without giving away any spoilers, it's a classic "Morty screwed up" plot that escalates into galactic chaos. But the twist in this episode is down right shocking in the funniest way possible. I think it's the most I've laughed at an episode in seasons! Definitely going down as a classic in my books!

Now I'm the first to review
ericstevenson7 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This episode starts off with everyone eating delicious spaghetti and then finding out it's made from dead people. I seriously thought that since the opening was so short, the episode wouldn't be about that! I thought it was just a brief gag or a lead into the real plot. This show impresses me! Anyway, this had a disclaimer that the episode would be about suicide. It's honestly not very depressing.

It turns out the spaghetti is made from only from people from another planet who committed suicide. I like how Morty tries to come up with his own ideas. Rick was actually pretty nice in this episode. He wasn't really trying to deceive anyone. I really am starting to wonder if this was about the meat industry. Anyway, this was a very creative episode and kudos to this show for taking such ridiculous concepts and making them interesting. ***1/2.

Really detailed
tomeksobierajxp6 November 2023
Easily one of the best episodes of the last few seasons. The writers paid attention to every line using sattire, mataphors and real life allegories, leaving viewers with thought-provoking ideas about the society, all while being in sync with the development process of the show's characters.

Interesting part the authors become fluent in is the rapid change of the story's pace. From running and gunning to slow contemplation at a family dinner within seconds drastically shifts the atmosphere, making the viewer glued to the screen. New unique-looking side characters now each have a metaphoric meaning to add new layers of interpretation, be more though-provoking and target the older audience, instead of just being goofy and standing out, as the show aimed for in the early days.

Return to form
danielcgrimes7 November 2023
Easily the best episode of the season so far, carries humour and a touch of feels that recent Rick and Morty was lacking. Really reminded me of season 2.

Rick and Morty do what they do best, delve into a deeply concerning issue and rip it wide open (pun intended) with its usual, characteristic sauce. It also mirrors what we experience in our daily lives without beating us over the head with it.

I really hope this kind of episode isn't a standalone for this season, and it follows through with more like it. Really got an old Rick and Morty feel from this, which I wasn't expecting, almost nostalgic.

Great episode, bit of a recycled plot
jc12018 November 2023
This is by far the best episode of this season - the voice acting was on-point (IMO) - great to hear more Morty, and Rick continues to be solid but not perfect. It's a back to basics "Rick and Morty have zany adventures because Morty refused to not try to do the right thing" outing.

The spaghetti's origin premise was hilarious with a lot of great visual pay-off, but I found the ending (which was essentially identical to the The Ricklantis Mixup's "Simple Rick" ending) to be a little heavy handed and also, unfortunately, recycled.

Other than that this got me excited for next weeks' to see if they can continue the streak!

Everything's here and more
nottassett6 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I loved it! Yes, it can be disgusting for someone I personally had a breakfast during the show and it was quite an experience. I thought it's gonna be just a theme for the cold open not for the whole episode so I was very joyful to find out that creators are gonna dig into this topic.

I loved the humor and how nihilisticly absurd this episode was. How rare we see episodes about Morty even if there's a Rick with his crazy solutions. It actually felt that there was no Rick at all, only Morty giving his ideas and some grandpa magically fulfilling his grandsons wishes and solving them once and for all only at the end.

I'm totally in love how R&M's team mastered the beauty of short, no words stories like they did in "The Vat of Acid" and " Rickmurai Jack" episodes. This one is no exception.

I like how this story contains jokes, tragedy, satire, morality and just a big comment on the society and our problems with consumerism, food and meat industry and a desire to be blissfuly ignorant about everything around us.

I can't tell this is my favorite episode but it surely one of the best yet. I would even compare it with a good Black Mirror episode but funnier and not as dark as it could be.

8.9/10 Hope we'll more stuff like this is the future!

P. S. I was impressed how Rick mocked Morty in his own mistakes but this time Morty's actions had a really big and serious consequences compared to most of his previous adventures. And how Rick listened to his grandson and let him decide how to fix the problem and take responsibility for his actions.

They rememebered the show is called "Rick and Morty"
jk_9912 January 2024
So it took 4 episodes to finally get one where Rick and Morty go on an adventure. So many shows fail because they decide to focus too much on the side characters, and it felt like this was going the same way.

Also I think they didn't want the new voice actors dominating the first few episodes, particularly as Morty's new voice is so much better than Rick's, which becomes glaringly obvious when they are together. So we got filler, side characters, and unnecessary cameos. Straight out of The Simpsons decline playbook.

This follows the trend of the previous seasons where the first few episodes are poor, followed by a few good ones, and then more filler. It makes you think they had enough material for maybe one good final season and decided to just stretch it out to milk the money. It's a good story, an allegory with a moral tale.

And they decided to butcher an Oasis song on top of it, as if using a female voice can replace the heart and soul Liam Gallagher put into that song. You lose all the meaning behind it. It's very much the same as Rick's new voice, and this new season, nothing but a heartless copy of something once great.

A really bad episode
gamesinformatico6 November 2023
Not fun, honestly disgusting, and not in a good way, i did´nt smiled once, such a heavy topic, its a little hard to have fun with the episode, but i do apreciate the balls they had to do this, i miss some of that crazyness in south park, i believe that in that show it would´ve have suited better, but in Rick and Morty it was just, ugh i dont know, i felt uncomfortable i don´t even know what to say, i liked every episode of Rick and Morty so far, there was´nt a single one where i finished and was left with a bad taste in my mouth, but this one, the characters were all acting weird too, so weird that i though it was another dimension or something like that, not gonna lie the new actors did their worst on this one, they were really good on the last 3 episodes but in this one it sounded really bad, especially morty who is sounding very annoying.

Compartmentalising
Rob-O-Cop8 November 2023
A strong and brave episode taking a look at how we compartmentalise the things we do so we don't have to face the reality of the things we do to live the lifestyle we live.

With its literal connection to the food industry we can read it to be about the meat industry and how we really don't want to know how that slab of protein got on our plate, seriously, don't tell us, no really, just keep quiet about it, but in a wider context it could be about and anything else you wish, iphones and sports shoes made in sweat shops, you name it, we do it and we hide the real cost from sight.

So a brave and powerful subject delivered with stealth skill by the writing team. You'd have to be nuts to come out and say this stuff directly and team R&M have slipped it in covered in cannibal jokes. Class. Anyone keen to go vegan? Thought not.
