The first half of the doubleheader got close at times in the third and the fourth, but you were never really worried about whether or not the Denver Nuggets would pull it off. They are simply a better coached team than the Lakers and have a deeper roster that plays connected.

The Golden State Warriors look a little different, but have most of their key pieces back. Unfortunately, Chris Paul is not a starting caliber PG anymore and playing him big minutes makes no sense. The Phoenix Suns did not look perfect, they blew a big halftime lead, but certainly played well enough to secure a win down the stretch in the better of the two games.

Season opener, with the NBA Champion Denver Nuggets. Prince hits back to back early 3's for the Lakers, Porter with a good rebound and consecutive baskets for Denver. Jokic making it look so easy, with rebound and soft flip put-backs and the Nuggets getting contributions across the board. They take a sizeable 14-point lead to the quarter break. LeBron still taking it directly to the hoop through the entire Nuggets defense, the Lakers cut the deficit to 9 by the half. The Lakers start and end the 3rd-term well, Denver leads by 7 going into the last. As the Lakers get close, Jokic knocks down another 3-ball and the Nuggets home comfortably. Denver shot better from both the field and 3, which was the difference. Jokic with a 29-point triple-double, 11 assists and 13 boards. Gordon 15 points, 5 assists, 7 boards, 2 steals and no turnovers. Caldwell-Pope an efficient 20 points and 3 steals. Murray an efficient 21 points and 6 assists. For the Lakers, LeBron 21 points, 5 assists, 8 boards and no turnovers. Prince an efficient 18 points.
