Good Dog
boblipton5 November 2018
When the blind beggar falls ill, his faithful dog goes to fetch the doctor. When the doctor prescribes medicine, the animal takes the prescription to the apothecary and brings it home. When the beggar dies, the sole member of the funeral cortege is the dog, who rests on his master's grave and will not be moved.

It's a French version of the Scottish Greyfriars Bobby and very well done for its year. Watching the people shrug their shoulders in the Gallic fashion and accept the situation seemed so very typical of man's lack of humanity to man.

I was particularly taken with Ben Model's score for this short, which can be found on Undercrank Production's FOUND AT MOSTLY LOST vol.2.
