In 2012, Kerry Bellessa’s Amber Alert was not well received by critics and viewers, particularly because of the main characters and the choices they made. So it was surprising when the same director returned twelve years later with what is essentially a remake of a rather divisive movie. The plot is, more or less, the same this time around, but a few creative changes make this new version of Amber Alert more watchable.
Like in the original movie, this new story happens over the course of one night. And the first significant difference between the two versions — apart from the obvious change in filming style — is the cast. Instead of three friends tailing a potential kidnapper, Hayden Panettiere and Tyler James Williams (The Walking Dead) play total strangers. Jaq (Panettiere) is late for a date when she flags down Shane, an off-duty rideshare driver played by Williams, and convinces him...

Hayden Panettiere didn’t sleep much in the two days that led up to her recent interview with People, she said in a new post — something the actress added contributed to how she appeared in a video interview with the magazine that drew concern from fans. “Like I’ve said before, I am a work in progress. We all are,” the actress, known for her work in the “Scream” and “Heroes” franchises as well as “Nashville,” wrote in a lengthy post shared on Instagram.
“I would like to take a moment to address the controversy surrounding an interview I recently completed with People Magazine,” her message began. “It’s unfathomable that I’m even in this position, but I feel forced to address it in a space where I won’t be criticized for how fast or slow I speak.”

Lionsgate has pushed the release date for Mel Gibson’s anticipated suspense thriller Flight Risk, starring Mark Wahlberg, Topher Grace and Michelle Dockery, to 2025, the studio announced on Friday afternoon.
The film will now open wide on January 24, 2025, contending in its opening weekend with only the Disney-inspired indie horror comedy Screamboat and IFC Films’ thriller Inheritance starring Phoebe Dynevor and Rhys Ifans. The film’s previous frame of October 18, 2024 was a good deal busier — Paramount Pictures’ horror pic Smile 2, Neon’s Palme d’Or winner Anora from Sean Baker and Roadside Attractions’ drama Exhibiting Forgiveness being among the titles set to open then.
Based on the 2020 Black List script by Jared Rosenberg, Flight Risk follows a pilot (Wahlberg) transporting an Air Marshal (Dockery), who’s been tasked with accompanying a fugitive (Grace) to trial. As the trio crosses the Alaskan wilderness, tensions soar and trust is tested, as not...

Exclusive: Hayden Panettiere will star in A Breed Apart. Known for playing Claire Bennet in Heroes, Kirby Reed in slasher franchise Scream and Juliette Barnes in Nashville, Panettiere will take an as yet unspecified role in the film, which uses Wes Craven’s cult 2006 picture The Breed as a jump-off point.
In addition to Panettiere signing on, Deadline can also reveal the film has rounded out its ensemble cast.
Joey Bragg, Troy Gentile, Riele Downs and Page Kennedy will all appear. They join the previously announced Virginia Gardner and Grace Caroline Currey, who were seen together in vertigo-inducing Netflix movie Fall.
Billed as a reimagining of Wes Craven-produced and Nicholas Mastandrea-directed The Breed, the upcoming movie is more accurately a sequel of sorts and is set after events of the first film. The new picture originally bore the same name, but the title has now been tweaked.
