Film equivalent of a 1950s science fiction short story

Three male Greek medical students are taught that it is completely impossible to sneeze without closing your eyes. One of them is a hyper-intelligent geek who proves the professor's assertion wrong. Very implausibly, this leads into a science fiction plot.

As was common, for example, in 1950s science fiction stories and in Soviet science fiction films, the science fiction aspect isn't really what this film is about. It's just a mechanism for throwing the characters into an unusual situation and showing how they behave. While the technology angle is zany and implausible, I found the characters natural and believable, in terms of script, dialogue and acting. (Caveat: I don't speak Greek, so I had to rely on the subtitles.)

The film was clearly produced on a small budget. Thankfully, the few (cheap) special effects have been done competently, so they are not jarring. As a joke, there is also a very obvious gratuitous special effect with pixel graphics.

This little film is well worth watching at least once. However, some science fiction fans may need a warning that the science fiction aspect doesn't start properly before half the time is over.
