Uninteresting porn drama
lor_3 April 2024
The Larry Cohen-scripted "Phone Booth" was a classic 2002 thriller set at a phone booth, but noted porn director Michael Zen achieved merely a wrong number with his similarly set but pointless porn feature six years earlier for Vivid Video's Wave label.

Nikki Tyler stars, dressed up like a hooker, who waits in vain at the booth for a call from Woody (Steven St. Croix). Instead, we see that Woody is busy having sex with her best friend Jill Kelly, and both Jill and Steven are painted as unsympathetic characters.

The gimmick of the phone booth (now rather quaint given that they've been generally phased out) is rather lame, just an excuse for Nikki to meet nice guy Randy West, who turns out to be a professional gigolo and just the man to hump her, as well as a stupid subplot involving Vince Vouyer, constantly on the phone trying to arrange for a threesome (and succeeding, with Monique de Moan the girl). St. Croix pops up as the third man, illogical if one is following the "story".
