The plot: Desperate for money, a man volunteers for experimental drug tests that end up giving him extraordinary powers. However, the mayor and drug company have nefarious plans for him.

Improbabilia is an interesting scifi/conspiracy/thriller web series. It's not exactly the best thing I've ever seen, but I'm curious to see where it will go. Each episode is about 5 minutes, which doesn't really leave much time for plot or characterization. However, there's enough action, geeky references, and cliffhangers that it may keep you watching. Brian Clement, the writer/director, borrows liberally from his influences: David Cronenberg, Clive Barker, Stephen King, etc. The resulting pastiche is a bit derivative, but if you've ever wondered what would happen if the protagonists from Scanners had random superpowers from the X-Men, escaped to Midian, and fought to expose Mayor Rob Ford, this is definitely the web series for you. Unfortunately, it suffers from some of the problems that plagued Lost, such as filler (unforgivable in a 5 minute short), making things up as you go along, and compulsively introducing new characters and plot lines before resolving old ones.

This is a DIY web series, so you have to lower your expectations in a lot of areas. That doesn't excuse the acting or writing, but it's still pretty watchable. Plus, the episodes are so short that any episode you don't like will soon be over, and you can move on to the next one.
