Solid intentions, but the weak execution really works against the idea

Warning: Spoilers
"Secret Project Revolution" is a 17-minute live action short film from 2013, so this one has its 5th anniversary next year and it is a co-production between successful recording artist Madonna and director Steven Klein with whom she has been collaborating for a long time. This is entirely in black-and-white, but even for me as a lover of artistic b&w films, this cannot really solve the film. Neither story nor music convinced me at all here and the result is that this little movie which was intended as a strong anti-discrimination statement (against everything) can really be described as something that does not do justice at all to the difficult subject. It has a tendency to feel shocking for the sake of it during these moments when we see Madonna shoot people in the head (not too graphically). The explanation that it happens in real is not enough to make any of this thing impactful. It's not the only time renowned pop artists have attempted to make powerful statements about politics and society in music videos in recent years, but most of these were genuinely disappointing and ineffective. Just like this one here. I give it a thumbs-down. Not recommended.
