Not a typical superhero show
SpoodermanDerp10 April 2015
"Into the Ring" is the pilot that kicks off this show and gives first impressions. With Marvel recently just aired Agent Carter which was received very well and of course the still ongoing Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. which has gained quality in its new season however many are still divided towards it. Meanwhile, DC in TV has been excellent, they have a huge audience with them and they have been completely destroying Marvel in TV standards. Marvel had to step up their game in TV, sure Agent Carter was a step up, but they needed more to compete with DC. Then came this show which I gave a shot as I want to see Marvel's go at a show now focusing on a main superhero, and boy did I like this one.

The episode instantly starts with (of course) the origin story. I thought that the origin story was gonna take about 1/4 or 1/2 of the episode and it would just drag on. But then something magical happened, it didn't. Just like the Flash, the origin was sped up (pun intended) and they cut the crap and basically said: you know the basics, he's a guy who's blind, a vigilante, he's skilled, you've seen this a lot of times, now shut up and enjoy the episode, and I particularly liked that about the episode. The audience don't need another extremely long origin, you know what'll happen it's basic stuff. To fill in those minor gaps and add depth to Matt Murdock, the episode also uses flashbacks to develop and get to know things in life that might be valuable in times of danger and I'm sure there'll be more flashbacks in more episodes. Charlie Cox was okay as Daredevil, I can't say much since it's his first episode so far, but eventually he will warm up to me and he will improve even further. The action sequences are one of the highlights of the episode. They were shot well and thank god for minimal shaky cam. The choreography was a lot like from Captain America: The Winter Soldier and that's saying a lot because the action in that movie was mind-blowing and intense especially in hand to hand combat action. The episode also gives you a look through the crime world wherein Matt Murdock lives in especially towards the end of the episode. With brilliant editing and brilliant music, it truly brings you in to the crime world that you are about to witness through this show. The episode also feels like a crime thriller rather than a superhero show. It's like The Dark Knight wherein it focuses more in the world of crime and corruption with Batman thrown in it, the same is the case for Daredevil. I'm not saying it's bad or anything, but it's special since shows like The Flash or Arrow are purely superhero shows and focuses on the superhero and comical stuff. While this show focuses on the atmosphere and crime world that makes it different from these DC shows. I'm excited for this show and potential is very strong within it. DC's army should get ready, Marvel has a Daredevil in TV now.

+Taking cues from DC shows and Marvel movies, +It cut the crap, you know the basics of Daredevil, +Flashbacks, +No overly long and dragged origin story, +Good Daredevil, +Excellent and intense hand to hand combat action Sequences, +A crime thriller.

Verdict: 9.4/10

Great start!

Is it me or does it feel like Marvel is taking over the world? Based on the first episode here, it's definitely not a bad thing! Superheroes are the norm now and we have more and more coming on the big screen and small, what's key though, is how you make the fans like them. Marvel saw this opportunity in Peggy Carter and took a smart risk there...and here it is also onto a winner here as Matt Murdoch fits the bill nicely as a likable character, yet has dark enough moments to please most.

The show isn't dark, but is feels gritty, which gives it a more real and personal feel. The fight sequences were well choreographed and provided possibly my favourite moments when shown in slow-mo.

Whereas the other Marvel films/shows are bigger and louder, Daredevil works fine as a more "local" setting, which gives it a fresher feeling. This is not someone who will save the world, but more like a local vigilante and that makes it different and interesting from the others.

It's still only the first episode but the show has great potential. Looking forward to the next episodes!

Daredevil shines brighter at darkest of night and Hell's Kitchen is really dark.
quincytheodore11 April 2015
It's been said that Marvel rules over cinema and DC rules over TV series. While Marvel has a couple lighthearted series of their own, Daredevil is their first appropriate contender and he is significantly different than any before him. This series is equally a noir thriller as it's a superhero story. Daredevil is exceptionally dark on all aspects, both story and action. While it is debatable whether it can dethrone DC, one thing for sure; Daredevil has the best action choreography of any series.

Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) is a lawyer at day and vigilante at night, he's pretty much full time blind servant of justice. Story focuses on his early days when Murdock isn't exactly the Daredevil yet, a good indication of this is the makeshift outfit. I guess when Murdock is just starting his law firm, he can't afford glass casing for his hood, although he already has several superhuman attributes.

Comparison could be make with Ben Affleck's performance more than a decade ago, but Charlie Cox looks pretty menacingly formidable as Daredevil. Casting is suitable for first episode, the actors might need time to settle in, and the audience to be familiar with them, but Charlie Cox might just handle the role admirably.

Visual is in constant bleakness with occasional gleam of slightly more vibrant color, it almost resembles a stylish comic book portrayal of Murdock's sense. The use of shadow is overwhelming, creating contrast in just about any room the characters are in. The screenplay has slow yet intense pace, it focuses on a few characters and develops them nicely with clever script.

Surprisingly, the bulk of the episode is investigation. This creates a deeper connection between the characters. I must admit after watching DC series the change of pace is bizarre at first, but I find it very fascinating. When the action starts, Daredevil is leagues above the rest. It offers high level of fighting sequences, brutal flesh collision with each punches and kicks and the camera takes every visual advantage of it. It's worth checking Daredevil solely for the action scenes.

This is not your ordinary superhero series. It's unapologetically gritty and bloody, while that might not be as accessible as previous Marvel series, Daredevil is a legitimate powerhouse and the best masked man Marvel has to offer yet.

Gripping Start! Awesome Build Up
I fell in love for this series right at the very first episode. Such a strong start, I can say. Unlike its movie counterparts, this one's gritty and has some darkness in it. Loved how the very first episode delivered a handful of reveals without too much spoiling about the rest of the series. Its still building up right where it started ablaze. The backstories are properly placed and well-executed. I'm loving the fact this episode isn't compressed about his trainings and growing up alone. Major characters' expositories are really well-inserted, and the fight sequences are beautifully choreographed! For a TV series, this an overwhelming feat. I'm loving the show's dynamics. One of this best origin stories I've seen, so far. Can't wait to have more of it, I might finish the whole series in no time! :)

A Different Daredevil...
peteypiper10 April 2015
Warning: Spoilers
The highly anticipated premiere of the TV's adaptation of a marvel comic book, Daredevil, had finally hit the screens after its release of the first season. Due to me seeing the film version of the comics, I was intrigued to see how this series would play out as other shows such as "The Flash" I feel have been slow in narrative progression along with confined writing, not allowing it to expand. This defied the odds and impressed me more than I was expecting. It steered away, but not too far from the comics and added more depth into it's narrative allowing it to perhaps facilitate mixed audiences to take a liking to it. The action sequences relating to the comics, bring the action, suspense and climactic conclusions whilst the interrogation and crime investigation scenes give it the meaning. Matt Murdock, a lawyer who suffers from blindness after a car accident when he was a child, portrays a dark version of a child's protagonist. He sets out with his colleague to solve mysteries involving murders and trying to crack them with help of the victim's story when he is himself but sets out to gain justice when he puts on the Daredevil costume, making the two culminate conclusively. With cinematography being designed to bring out the characters and the dark, eerie crime cases, the audience are welcomed into a new filmic style for a modern representation of a superhero.

What was clever and inventive about "Daredevil" was how it didn't immediately show Matt Murdock as a developed superhero, not giving the audience the calm and reassuring feeling that he has been doing it for all his adult life. Instead, it showed the beginner Daredevil and not the experienced one thus representing a more innocent, "I don't know why I'm doing this yet" approach which can cause uneasy responses from the audience as he is constantly juggling with danger. There were many scenes in this episode that appeared as heroic whilst there were other scenes that were considerably dubious, yet somehow, the two cooperatively made the other one look better as the episode went on. The first action sequence at the bay was exciting and skillful as we see Daredevil in action fighting off the villains that are causes of human trafficking. Placing this scene near the beginning of the episode was a great direction to go in as we immediately develop the wrong attitude towards this character, yet, we doubt ourselves after we understand and learn that the character has vast levels of depth, emotional empathy and injustice causing him to lead this other life as a superhero, a great technique from the directors. However, as a lawyer, Matt appears as calm and controlled when interrogating victims of crimes thus increasing his character development that we can match to his heroic lifestyle that he leads but the one similarity he holds whilst being these two characters is the dark persona as if he's constantly hiding something. His colleague, Nelson, remains as the "comedy guy" between the two and has a more relaxed view on things whilst Matt holds crooked smiles and is refrained from saying much dialogue when around crowds, giving the sense that he is distinguished from other lawyers or people, causing the mirroring of two sides of a character to work very well for this adaptation.

The camera-work for "Daredevil" was shot in a manner that promoted the atmosphere around the characters as being responsive to Matt's increased sharpness of hearing, such as the slow motion of the heartbeat and the chain banging against the metal pipe. Not only does this appear as effective and well structured, but it shows the audience that the surroundings work to a character's advantage. This show being filmed a lot in the dark was very secretive and mysterious, relating to Matt's career as well as him being the Daredevil. Dark being synonymous with evil symptoms welcomes the audience into a new style of representation for superheroes but also something that we're not used to when witnessing these type of TV shows. The show featured a lot of close up shots that showed the facial expressions of the characters, striking them at a personal level and making them feel oppressed with guilt or innocence and sometimes knowledge such as Matt hearing the increased heartbeat of the woman when she told her side of the story.

The premiere of "Daredevil" didn't disappoint as an adaptation of a famous comic book hero. Surprisingly, it added a twist to the show being an original "hero saves the day" type of show and brought in a realistic approach due to it appearing more "human" with a scary approach to Matt's character. Throughout the episode, we believe to have a confirmed understanding of Matt as a character and a superhero but as each scene is shown to us, we restart and feel like we don't know him and blame ourselves for ever thinking what we did the scene before we change our minds. That's what's so genius about this show, it's ability to play with your mind and make you feel on edge but also doubtful of the narrative as it has so many opportunities to bring in another angle or punch to the storyline. The cinematography was unique as the atmosphere is filmed to be in Matt or Daredevil's advantage due to the slow motion, mirroring the sharpness of his hearing, given to him from his blindness. As well as this, the scenes were lit to present an eerie aspect as well as presenting a personality of different characters, adding to the different techniques to gain audience engagement thus making them want to continue watching. A great premiere and I look forward to the rest of the season.

Heroes and Their Consequences
ThomasDrufke28 April 2015
So I finally got around to watching the first episode of one of the most buzzed about TV shows, at least of superhero shows. After the Ben Affleck debacle, which was not his fault by the way, I wasn't too interested in another adaptation of the man without fear. This new take on Marvel's blind superhero seems to take the character in a different direction. The opening episode is by far the darkest thing that the Marvel universe has done. It's definitely an advantage of having the show on Netflix as opposed to network television.

We begin with the initial accident to Matt Murdock and the tragic but interesting consequences it has on him. We also get introduced to what we can assume will be on his team come the rest of the season, Karen Page and Foggy Nelson. I thought Deborah Ann Woll's performance as Page was the highlight of the episode. There was absolutely nothing fake to her performance and didn't come off as damsel in distress like female characters in superhero movies/shows often do. Nelson brought comedic relief but so far, I can do without. We only got a glimpse into Wilson Fisk's AKA Kingpin's plan but I love the way Hell's Kitchen was set up. One of the criticisms of Arrow was that they failed early on at showing the brutally despicable sides of the Glades in Starling City. But Daredevil seemed to understand how to set up a city that does indeed need saving.

The show is more graphic and realistic than the movies or TV shows of the universe has done so far. So I'm not to keen on the full on crossover just yet. In fact the show only hints at the events of New York as 'the incident'. But those events did pave the way for Fisk's business plans. Murdock springs into action against Fisk's associates a few times during the episode, in his cloth like costume. The fight sequences are absolutely incredible. They make even Winter Soldier seem like works of a semi-pro. I also really enjoyed the opening credits as it seemed Girl with a Dragon Tattoo like. The show has a lot of promise so far, and can be something fresh Marvel can put out every year. So I'm really looking forward to watching the rest of the season in the coming days.

+Setting up the team

+Opening credits

+Action sequences

+Hell's Kitchen seems like Hell's Kitchen

"I'm not seeking penance for what I've done, Father. I'm asking for forgiveness... for what I'm about to do"
sebtwister20 March 2016
It cannot be understated just how good episode 1 of Daredevil really is! The flashbacks to Matt Murdock's childhood is beautifully done and adds so much to the overall story. This episode is a great introduction to Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll).

Here Murdock and Foggy are on their first case as lawyers and the first person the ever defend is Karen page. Things look pretty cut and dry that Karen murdered her employee, the police find him stabbed to death with Karen covered in his blood and holding the murder weapon, but only Matt believes her because of his ability to sense weather she is telling the truth or not through her heart beats. Gradually more and more unravels and things are not as they seem.

It is also the first and certainly not the last time we see James Wesley (Toby Leanard Moore). You see right away that he is not just a henchman to a notorious crime boss, but he is sly and ruthless in his own right and will sink to evil depths to blackmail someone and use them for his own gain.

The fight scenes look so stylish in this series, you see exactly what motivates him to fight criminal gangs and mobs, you see him get hurt time and time again and I love the scene where he gets up and you just see his blood dripping from his mouth as he gets up in the pouring rain. It is a gorgeously shot series with awesome use of shadows and light really setting the tone and atmosphere perfectly. It is movie quality in my opinion. A fantastic start to a series that makes an impression from the start.

Awesome start to an awesome show!
nylonstrumpa14 April 2018
Let's start with the most important factor: (at least in my opinion) the writing. I was incredibly surprised that this show had the guts to actually trust its own storytelling and not rely on the fight/action scenes. When I first heard about this show, I thought that the show wouldn't necessarily have a "good" story or plot, but I'm pleased to say that this episode in particular had a solid story to tell, sure it's nothing groundbreaking, but for such a simple premise the writers did a solid job of making an episode that told a good and satisfying story that made sense, established the characters and set up the rest of the season to a fine degree.

The second most important factor in this show is most likely going to be the characters and the dialogue. Let's start with the characters first: The main character of Daredevil is Matthew Murdock, who is a blind lawyer who works together with his best friend Foggy Nelson, and together they're trying their absolute best to open up their own firm called Nelson and Murdock. Both Matthew and Foggy are very likable in my opinion. Sure, you could say that Foggy is considered to be the "Comic Relief" of Daredevil, but I disagree on that, whilst being a comical guy Foggy is also a pretty intellectual and clever guy who helps the main character to a high degree. Speaking of the main character, I was also surprised as to how much I liked Matthew. I liked that fact that even though he is an incredible talented fighter he is always at a certain disadvantage thanks to his blindness. The chemistry between Matthew and Foggy was also handled in a great way, I felt as though they were actually close friends, and their relationship felt very real and genuine, which is the cause of some good writing and superb acting from both Charlie Cox and Elden Henson.

The dialogue is also very good. I felt as though the people actually talked like real people which again, is most likely thanks to some good writing. I won't spoil anything, but one of my personal favorite dialogue/conversation of this episode (and the entire show) is a conversation between Matthew and Father Lantom in the beginning of the episode. The writing in that scene is so simple and clean yet unique and beautifully told.

I was also amazingly surprised as to how well-choreographed the fight scenes were. Daredevil is an R-rated show, and the producers take full use in that. People in this show don't just get punched and knocked out, most of them: get their bones shattered/broken, head smashed in, strangled, shot, kidnapped, murdered, tortured, sold, decapitated, scratched, bitten, amputated and more graphic stuff. I was not expecting that from a studio such as Marvel, and I'm very happy that they later went even further with The Punisher.

So overall: Into the Ring is a very enjoyable first episode that establishes the characters in a great way, tells a solid story that sets up the rest of the season, gives us some awesome fight scenes and great dialogue, some slow moments but not enough to feel dragged out, this and some very likable characters make this episode one of (if not the) best first episodes of any superhero show.

The Beginning of Marvel's Netflix TV Shows.
wetmars17 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Not bad, not bad. I admit to not being exposed to Daredevil Content. All I knew about him is that he's blind, fights, have enemies like Kingpin, Bullseye, and Elektra. I have to say that flashback was traumatic when multiple cars had collided, the dad checking if his son Matt is okay, but realizes that his eyes got exposed to liquid hazardous chemicals telling him to close his eyes. I feel so bad for poor Matt. I can't even imagine what being blind in your entire life could feel like. Funny enough, this scene is darker than any Disney+ MCU "dark scenes".

About the episode, I had a major problem within this is that the pacing issue was Y I K E S. Although, I did love the action of Matt stopping sex trafficking which was pretty based if you ask me & him fighting another one in the rain that was beautifully shot well in the rain. I can't wait to know more about the characters that I like, so here is my first expression of them.

Matt Murdock seems like a decent character, and has more interesting powers than I imagined as hearing somebody's heartbeat whether they are lying or not, "detect" any movements that are involved in attacking. Foggy Nelson is also a decent character who is a detective partner of Matt helping to solve a crime about this group stalking & harrassing a woman. I did enjoy the interaction between Matt & Karen becoming good friends. I can't wait to see what's next.

7/10.

Good Start
panagiotis199311 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Live Reaction / Review for Daredevil Season 1 Episode 1: First episode, here we go, I hope it's good. So that's how he became blind, interesting. ''Im asking forgiveness for what im about to do''. I like this phrase. I like this protosuit, looks simple and cool. He got some sick moves. Things got brutal pretty fast. His best friends name is foggy? Haha that's kinda funny. Wait he can actually hear her heartbeat? If yes that's cool. They made this guy try to kill Page, who is behind this? I feel bad for Karen. So Karen has the file? Why did she lie? I like the flashbacks with his dad, it's a nice touch. These 3 have good chemistry. These criminals seem to be very organized. Ok this is just the start so I don't know if able to judge the right way but still I will give it a 7.5/10.

bad acting and boring
eborella6310 March 2016
I tried to like the show, the Daredevil character is good and the actor is doing a superb job, but I can't stand the friend and the blonde girl, their scenes are obnoxious and not funny and they are really bad actors. I have been watching the show by skipping all their scenes and then it works for me, I like the nurse and Daredevil but the other two, please have them killed already.

If they keep only the main actor plus the nurse, then the show is great but if they keep adding the other two so I can see this show going down the tubes, it will be just another garbage. I like the bad guy Wilson Fisk...but also they should improve him scenes a little.

Intense Beginning, Promises Much More
madhav4201 November 2016
Warning: Spoilers
The show begins with a short, relevant & believable backstory. Then the plot is quickly established and intricately connected to further provide relevance to the story. I emphasize on relevance as many superhero/vigilante stories lack a plot and just miss the bull's eye. But, Daredevil hits the bulls eye hard and promises to hit ti harder if the ending of the show is anything to go buy. The acting by all the lead characters is believable and one will be able to Judge in future episodes better. But its off to a great start. Also, the whole blind aspect has been powerfully portrayed as a strength. I mean when he says in the gym to switch off the lights, I get the chills.. it was one of those moments. I am eagerly waiting to have time to just binge on the season

A super standard
billburns_30 May 2022
This should be a benchmark for what a superhero-based TV series can achieve in its first season. The goal of this show wasn't just to pay tribute to fanservice, or introduce a ton of characters into the Marvel world; rather, what we get is a heart-wrenching exposition spread out beautifully that tells us everything we need, and want, to know about Matthew Murdock. Beyond this, we are introduced to one of the most terrifying comic-based villains there is, King Pin. D'onofrio's ability to have you on the edge of your seat by just by existing in a scene is textbook. Another key element to this show is that whenever we're introduced to a new character on the side of the good, or even the bad, we get to know about the connections they have. We learn about what's important to them, what drives them, and what they will strive for no matter the danger that lies ahead. And this danger is not something that's cheap, as we find in multiple parts of this season that no character is in fact safe. It's always sad to see characters we learn to love and root for get taken out in brutal ways, but I appreciate that plot armor will not be found in Hell's Kitchen.... well except on Mr. Murdock perhaps. Overall, this first season does a great job introducing us to the charismatic Matthew Murdock, and the highly skilled, relentless Daredevil, along with a studded cast of exciting and lovable characters. Being able to have this strong of a storyline in a superhero based TV series that lasts almost twice as long as most others in the same realm is truly an impressive accomplishment. Foggy is just the cherry on top, too.

Heroes and their consequences
jhudson-117042 August 2017
Marvel delves into a grittier and darker universe with Netflix and a famous character Daredevil. And it works so well. The change is so welcome and a great change of pace like how the Winter Solider made superhero movies into a good thriller .

Let's start with the titular character, Matt Murdock, played by Charlie Cox. Now he isn't Daredevil yet, he's just a vigilante in black trying to help. As Matt Murdock, Cox plays the Catholic, smart lawyer to perfection as he portrays his conflict of faith and ability in the justice system so well that he comes off both charming and somewhat brooding. Him as Daredevil, or as he's known now, the man in black, isn't as good as his Murdock but it is so incredible to see a street warrior-ninja flipping around, beating up criminals and even taking a pounding himself compared to these larger than life superheroes like Iron Man and Thor.

The stunt choreography in this show is fantastic, with Murdock performing incredible gymnastics, fighting abiities, and extra sensory powers. He does this and can still be intimidating and likable.

The plot is well put together as it sets up goals and obstacles that Murdock must work through like the Triads, Yakuza, Russians as well as any personal and legal problems that arrive. It's enough to look forward too while not looking overbearing and too big a task for one man.

The side characters varied from annoying to intriguing. The bad guys that Murdock has to face are compelling, each in their own way. One in particular is Wesley, the proxy for the big bad. He brings a calm, collected, threatening persona that keeps you glued to your screen. Regarding Murdock's partners, Foggy was annoying as the comic relief lump. Sure, he's like this in the comics but there can be liberties taken with his character. He works as Murdock's goofball partner but nothing really beyond that. Karen kind of fell in the middle. She is clearly interesting as she is basically at the center of the main conflict here but other than being the damsel-in- distress secretary, it's just kind of off-putting to see this after seeing other badass women in the MCU like Black Widow, Maria Hill and Melinda May.

I am still really looking forward to the rest of this season because Marvel Studios has been so solid and good with everything else they have and they can't do worse than Ben Affleck's leather clad attempt at a hero movie featuring nothing but Evanescence songs. I am also very happy that they acknowledged the Avengers but did so in establishing where they are in the world and timeline instead of making a reference every chance they could like Agents of Shield, even though that show did gradually get better.

+ Cox's dual performance + Great plot points set up + Action and stunts + Some side characters worked... - ...Others didn't

Final Score: 9.2/10

Warning: Spoilers
Let's marathon the series from Marvel's The Defenders saga, I researched here the right order to watch it and I'm sure. I only watched three seasons of Daredevil, three seasons of Jessica Jones, their crossover series and one season of the others, I believe I didn't finish the first season of The Punisher. I have a curious fact with Daredevil, I watched the first episode as soon as it came out, but I had just watched the film with Ben Affleck. And as incredible as it may seem, I liked that film, then I went to watch the first episode right after, and I simply hated this episode because it was very different from what I had liked. A year passed, I went to rewatch both and I hated the film and loved the series, in short, life. One of the best hero series ever made. Since the first time I watched this series, I've always been very scared of Madame Gao, I don't know why. Kingpin is scary but I'm more afraid of Madame Gao. It's really cool to have several villains and them talking. I really liked the end of the episode, showing what each villain was doing. Episode one watched on March 7, 2024.

A perfect opening to this show.
filthyanimal-916847 April 2023
Into the Ring tells it's audience everything they need to know, from the tone of the show, to it's characters and it's world building. All in roughly an hour. One of if not the best episode of television I've ever seen. It's beautifully told, shot, and acted. I've seen this episode and this show plenty of times and there are still a few details I missed or ones I didn't remember. It subverts expectations to first time viewers by doing what the audience and the fans want it do and not what tends to be expected. Especially in today's Marvel streaming service TV series'. Marvel's Daredevil as a whole and it's pilot episode do what others have tried and failed to do, which is to stay true to and improve upon it's source material. Frank Miller's comic runs for Daredevil weren't perfect and while neither is the show it improves upon what the comics did wrong. I could write a whole essay on this show or even just specific episodes like Into the Ring, or A New Napkin.

Good start into an excellent tv show about the crimefighter Daredevil
Shadowboy_25cm3 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This fist episode introduces into the start of Matt Murdoch and Foggy Nelson as fresh lawyers in search of clients in Hells Kirchen, New York.

Already the first scene explains the backstory of Matts blindness and a flashback shows Matts relationship with his father.

This first episode shows already Matt as a Dark Defender, at day lawyer, at night as masked crimefighter (somewhere between Batman and Spiderman).

Visually some good ideas concerning the blindness of Matt and depicting his other senses.

Matt and Foggy take a case of murder and some gang leaders are shown (Chinese, Japanese, American/Irish, East European), who work for a mysterious crime lord.

All in all, this episode is a good start into the universe of Daredevil, with some mystery, dark atmosphere, some tough combat action scenes and feeling like a gritty crime tv show.

Highly recommended.

Good start

Warning: Spoilers
I'd put off watching this for a while for various reasons but finally got the chance to start catching up on it. On the strength of it, this first episode is head and shoulders above other similar shows from Marvel - JESSICA JONES, IRON FIST, etc. And up there with the first episode of LUKE CAGE in terms of quality. The characters and situation are intriguing, and the only thing I didn't like as much was the action, which was a little over-edited for me, but that has time to improve.

"Beware of the Murdocks, they got the devil in 'em"

A great pilot. This episode keeps you on the edge and starts the story in an unusual way. A lawyer starts practicing law and vigilantism as well. Goes onto the story in a detective aspect and turns into action scenes which were done very well. Matt's childhood is made very intriguing.

Great start to a great show.

Infantil. Poco realismo

Warning: Spoilers
Childish. Unreal. Second fight scene in the first episode. The character Daredevil (a blind man) beats a criminal. They receive blows from each other. It turns out that Daredevil, an ordinary human being with fighting skills, after the fact does not have a single mark from the blows he received. I sat down to watch it because I know that The Punisher appears in the second season. In addition, many characters coincide. Compared to the brutal realism of "The Punisher", Daredevil is like watching Tom & Jerry.

The scenes are forced. As if they were only there as a prelude to something better, which is not happening.
