It's the family meal from Hell.

Some terrific character development in this one, we learn more about the family dynamic, why they are the way they are, Sam in particular.

I am booked on this show, and it just seems to get better and better, it has so many funny lines, but the major strength is definitely the characters, all so well rounded and sincere.

You just know the direction this one is going to take, it's just when not if until it kicks off.

Rex is the most irritating character ever invented, he's a total tool.

Daniel Ings and Haydn Gwynne, two very talented actors, shows the appeal of the show. All are great, I am such a fan of Daisy Haggard.

Cringe, but so funny, 8/10.

Well taking part in that band competition had one benefit for Andy. He slept with Shelley, the girl he used to be at school with.

His sister Sam drags Andy to her ex-husband Ben's family lunch hosted by Joan, her former mother in law. Bruce and his daughter who is at school with Errol also pop along.

Joan knows about Sam being in rehabilitation but still tried to ply her with alcohol which Sam reluctantly takes. It is all about custody and she wants to make sure her son gets it.

Andy vies Rex, Sam's former brother in law to be the perfect uncle to Errol. Rex is a doctor who has just returned from voluntary work in Africa and seems to be perfect at everything.

At dinner there are lots of revelations, Ben was also into drugs and far from perfect, Joan also took drugs with Andy once although thinks he might had slept with her. Bruce thinks his wife is cheating on him and their daughter has an affection for Errol.

This episode has some knockabout comedy but is the one that develops the various characters from Andy to his sister, her ex husband. At this point they feel more real, troubled and maybe even going somewhere. In that regard, you have to appreciate the writing.
