Tried to Like This. Can't.
cindyapples15 June 2015
I'm sorry to have to write a bad review but I can't honestly write a good one. I tried very hard to like it and the woman starring in it (I don't know if it's Melissa DiMarco as herself, or Melissa DiMarco as a fictional version of herself/Melissa DiMarco, or an actress playing a wannabe TV host/Hollywood reporter named Melissa DiMarco, or some other meta-idea I can't wrap my head around). But basically as much as I think she is probably likable in real life the show is just incredibly unfunny, boring, poorly acted (mostly by the other characters), poorly written and ill conceived. Really it's just not very interesting to watch. It has a very amateurish look and feel to it (again the acting gives that away as it can't pass as any kind of "real" reality type programming) and they should be commended for having a show on for so long despite obviously lacking the big budgets etc that other shows have.

She Seems Likable, Show's Not Good
abrahamset17 February 2019
The host of this show seems like a nice and likable person but this show just is not very good and the comedy is not funny at all. Maybe it's the writing and or the acting or just lack of resources and production money but this show just seems off on so many levels.

on air for how long? episode "need for speed"

Warning: Spoilers
It appears she wings her script and questions or they really need to fire the writers. The interviews lack creativity and intelligence, there was nothing funny on this show. I think she may be better scripted in porn, looks like that's all she is interested in selling. What a disturbing show. Melissa lacks in self respect and promotes the stereo type by portraying women as being bimbos, my question then became, she must be sleeping with someone to be on air for this long or the network is totally sleeping on the job and forgot she is still on the air. Story line of her past, jumping in to guys cars was the biggest loss of 5 minutes I've every endured. This actress needs to take up another career and spare us all.

Please stop this show

I don't get the jokes or anything. she says doesn't sounds funny at all even after forcing myself watching it like 6 times to give it a chance. Sorry she should act more mature because she's not funny.

although, she seems to be a nice person I found the music, her voice annoying. The actual information irrelevant. Plain and simple, not interesting.

She talks more about her inner ego than what I want to know and too little about the industry.

Please stop this show

An entertainment journalist's comedic life on the red carpet.
gossipdivasupreme8 April 2014
I adore the show, Out There with Melissa DiMarco. Melissa is a comedic genius with her clever wordplay and humorous acts on screen. The story- line is unpredictable with several characters on the show including her cameraman, Flip and guest stars her Nona, the other star in my eyes. The interviews are engaging, hilarious and manage to always go with the plot. In addition, I always seem discover new information about my favorite celebrities. The show is quick pace and never has a dull moment. It's acceptable for all ages, my parents and younger siblings are all fans. I would recommend this show to anyone interested in celebrity news or is in need of a good laugh.

The negativity by so many people here is bizarre...
oninagiinochi2 January 2024
I actually remember this show coming on late in the evening or overnight when I was a teen in the 2000s, but I didn't think much of it. It was just another bit of "Can-Con" (Canadian Content) that not even Canadians cares about because we were all watching AmeriCon instead like everyone else in the world... very unfortunately. Anyways, I finally started to look into her and her show once I realized that she was the same person I had seen in various other Canadian shows, showing up in episodes here and there, and she was always memorable. It wasn't until I decided to finally check out what all the fuss over some show called "Degrassi" was that I saw her in it and had to figure out where I had seen her before... Relic Hunter, Due South, and... her very own show. Mostly Canadian shows. Maybe if she was American with an American-based show, Melissa Dimarco would get more noticed and appreciated for her work.

Her work, from what I've seen, is being one of the best movie star interviewers ever. It depends what you want from interviews, I guess. If you want hard-hitting questions, then you won't get it from her. But why would that be necessary when interviewing movie stars about their movies? Instead, what we get is Melissa asking questions that other interviewers may not ask and getting the interviewee to be funny. I bet everyone she's ever interviewed has enjoyed it. Her love for movies really shines through in every episode of her show. She's just fun and she always gets something interesting out of every actor. I loved how when she interviewed Miss Piggy for the sequel to the Muppets movie, she brought up her previous interview with Kermit for the previous Muppet movie, where she had planted a kiss on Kermit... if you know Miss Piggy, then you know that interview had to be fun.

One other review mentioned her voice being annoying, which is the most bizarre comment of all to me, honestly. It's only in some recent episodes that she sound kind of like she's losing her voice, but even now it's far from "annoying". The very opposite. There's a reason why she played the "Hot Teacher" in Degrassi, after all.

I wish I had given this show a chance when I saw it airing on Cable in the early days, as she's one of my favourite Canadians now. I've tried to find full recordings of her early episodes but haven't been able to, just the previews of them that she uploaded to youtube. And that's the other thing... her show is still going! It's gone from cable to the internet now, with videos uploaded to social media, still getting A-list celebrities to do interviews. She's still at it, going into her 50s now (though it's hard to tell, she's one of those "possibly immortal" people, like Keanu Reeves or Tyra Banks) despite what I'm sure is pretty low returns of any kind... I guess she just does it for the love of it! It's hard to believe some people can be annoyed by someone like this, unless maybe they're just jealous due to all the celebs she's met, I guess.
