A delightfully simple short story about a man who tries to approach women on the street, that also happens to be a very poignant study on the way that people perceive others. It is perhaps easier for attractive people to participate in what in film is known as "the meet cute", the moment when the protagonists run into each other for the first time and from then on the usual tropes of the rom-com begin. In here, our protagonist doesn't have the looks commonly associated with that of the typical leading man, thus he is unsuccessful in his many attempts at courtship. Yet in its final moments the film tells us what everybody should know, leading man looks or not; there's always someone out there for everybody. It's just a matter of timing.
Street Meet is charming and straightforward. It may appear too slight on the surface, for it appears more as a sketch than a fully formed story. However, everything from the way its shot to the casting makes the proceeding extremely charming and hard to resist.
