Flaws in the science
miguelfaznar3 June 2016
When the science is off, what is poetically acceptable and what is just outright wrong? My science student Rhys and I documented flaws in the science of Journey from the Center of the Sun. We included time-stamps. Rating scale: 10 is egregious, 1 is excusable poetic license, -10 is correction/redemption.

1:55 "dazzling sphere of intense light" actually refers to plasma. Rating = 2

2:01 "superheated gases" actually refers to plasma. Rating = 7

2:20 "sun is parent of whole solar system." Actually a nebula birthed the solar system. Rating = 1

15:43 "this hot ball of gas" actually refers to plasma. Rating = 7

21:10 100,000 or 1 million years it takes for light to escape the sun. Discrepant references are not reconciled. Rating = 3

22:52 Finally plasma is referenced. Rating = -7

36:21 "Photons are actually hitching a ride on the atoms." The energy of a photon is stored in an atom. Rating = 5
