I thought this was a particularly strong first episode, a great premise, strong story, and excellent set of characters. Why on Earth did this only last one series?

Shaun and Ruth are excellent characters, I loved the dynamic between the two. It isn't mentioned, but Shaun is clearly on the Asperger's spectrum, making him a very interesting character.
