Fun

This show reminds me of "Mountain Monsters". Some guys go out build a trap to catch a monster, and each has a niche they fit in. It is entertaining, although some what over the top. But, we do not know everything that is out there.

I enjoy B-Movies and even B-Grade Reality shows, but this is SCHLOCK
scottmannen13 October 2014
This is possibly the worst scripted cryptid TV show I have ever seen. They are pretending its not scripted, but it clearly is. I have never ever given a 1 star out of 10 to any show, but in this case I had to make an exception. My wife and I laughed quite hard throughout the entire first episode simply because it was so clearly fake and downright ridiculous.

For example: The cryptid hunters corner their "cryptid" in a cavern underground in pitch black conditions. They manage to view the 'creature' on their thermal at a distance of some 30 feet. They are locked and loaded with a tranq dart gun and about to bag a cryptid for the first time and make world headlines. So what happens? They shoot the dart gun, and instead of going to check on their targeted creature they automatically turn around and run out of the cave pretending as if they are being chased all the way by some huge bat creature. Now when they had this 'thing' on the thermal imager it looked like a human underneath a blanket. Once they finally reach the entrance to the cave, they put a net over the entrance to "protect themselves" in case it chases after them. They never once go to collect the tranq'd creature and instead just high tailed it out of there like cowards. Then they decide to call it the end of the expedition, and even have the guts to call it a success! What a joke. At the end they stated that they got physical dna evidence, but not once during the show did they state that they got any. Downright terrible. How on earth did this even get on TV? You cant even understand whats happening as the episode is so poorly put together. I decided to check out the second episode that's supposed to be at a different cavern location around the USA; however, everything looked the same as in the first episode! The same cave entrance, the new monster in episode 2 looked the same as the one on episode 1! In fact I am pretty sure that they filmed ep1 and 2 at the same location and just said that they were different locations. They said the first was a volcano, but not once did we see a mountain, it looked more like an abandoned well in both episodes.

What a joke!

Bad Writing
romykettlewell6 March 2019
This show is so contrived that it is hard to watch. The "locals" all look and sound like actors. The actors don't use any kind of believable scientific investigation techniques, and they lack chemistry and appeal. At least Josh Gates (Destination Truth, Expedition Unknown) is funny, and treats his criptid investigations very tongue-in-cheek. That's entertainment. These guys and their writers could take lessons.

So fake.. it destroys any true stories (if any)
dylanbud-6345116 November 2022
Second episode just made it so clear it's all acting, the big redneck guy who thinks he can "fist fight any creature" purposely makes it look like something pulled him into the water when he pokes something with a tip to take DNA for what they are searching for.... Until you slow it down a bit and see that he purposely jumped in.. WITH A DIVE TEAM ready to pull him out! If it was realistic he would have flipped the plastic blown up raft since he weighs about 250+.. The director is so bad he could even hide the fake action of him purposely jumping in... Last note... They were showing camera angles as if you were looking threw the eyes of the creature.... Doesn't anyone know that camera isn't the actual creature.... It's definitely below a 0.... And they never tell you any results from the "DNA they collected"

Monters Underground thumbs down - zer0

A Destination America TV Series Show' (Monsters Underground) great sound effects but that's about all you can expect from this TV series. No monsters, nice try Destination America trying to fool the masses by sucking them into your TV show. it took only one 30min show for me to turn it off. you would think they could come up with something better than this' ~> how about calling it, creepy crawler cave dweller's ?, boy's in the cave' boys night out, cave man dream's, cave monger's, insect caves, hole in the ground, but cracks in cave's , just about cave time, on my way to the cave, sound effects in caves, these fit's the show much better........... what a dud' hey but if you want to amuse yourself with a bunch of guys with flash lights crawling around inside of caves then this show is for you, just a warning do not expect to see any type of strange things or anything close to monsters, its just a TV series trying to get ratings' so have a go at watching it, after 30min you will turn it off like I did' ...on land Giant Gators and giant snakes are about the only things that come to close to a monster on earth. all the others are just myths. none has ever been proved nor will they ever be. the only thing that will spook you at night is a big owl....... they can scare the boots off you' they make strange sounds as well' have fun' it was a dud to me, I give it a 10 thumbs down out of 10.

You want to know the real truth?
cvxjcvcch28 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This show and shows like it are funded by the same people that run black project budgets to make a complete mockery of anyone who dares to believe in any cryptid. I'm not saying any of these "creatures" are real (One of the creatures is called the "AssWang," not kidding") I'm saying that many of the places they go could have real creatures (almost always just sasquatch, which are very real) and they try real hard to make sure these real beings don't get any real credibility. Did you really think a show this stupid would get on the air otherwise? Nobody would fund that unless they had a much bigger reason... there's always a black project behind this garbage to try and make fools of anyone trying to do real research on anything we don't understand yet. Sad really and not entertaining in the least.

Ugh...

So disappointed. Would much rather watch a show that investigated the locations, history and legends of monsters underground than a fake wild goose chase with a bunch of actors. I use the term "actors" generously here.

So many of the shows in this particular cluster of networks follow this lame formula, and it is so old and done to death.

Stop being lazy. This could have been a really cool show.

Of course it is fake!!!

Warning: Spoilers
Yes, The show is clearly fake, but does that mean it is NOT entertaining? Hell No! I loved the show and would like to see more. The only thing I would complain about is attention to detail. For example, while in the Apache Death Cave, Brock comes across some "sticky substance" and suggests that the Aswang may secret this substance. You can clearly see it is just cob webs sprayed with a can of spray adhesive...why do you ask? Well when the team first hears the rattle of the Aswang the camera points down the cave ( that they never been in yet) and there you can see a brand new can of spray adhesive sitting on the cave wall. Someone dropped the ball on that one. But all in all...I found the show entertaining! It's like wrestling...just be entertained people!
