Very Well Done!!
khanmirha16 October 2022
Ok I was a bit skeptical going in because of all the hype and drama around this production but I was pleasantly surprised. Simply put- this film has high entertainment value, you will not be disappointed. Without giving away any spoilers, I think Bilal Lashari has done a great job in recreating and retelling an iconic Punjabi-Pakistani story. Having taken inspiration not only from the original Maula Jatt (1979) but also from the Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi's short story "Gandasa". I think this film does an incredible job of bringing this tale to a new generation, while still preserving the original punjabi dialogue. There's always an added pressure on the actors for remakes especially for cult-classics such as this one, however Fawad Khan as Maula Jatt and Hamza Ali Abbasi as Noori Natt did complete justice to the characters. In fact all the actors (save for one actress, you can guess who) gave solid performances. Beautiful score, incredible cinematography, all in all this film is really really wonderfully done.

PHENOMENAL. A milestone in Pakistani filmmaking!
arubsyed14 October 2022
This movie is EXACTLY what Pakistani filmmaking needed. Finally, on original work of art that isn't chasing item-songs, or trying to imitate Bollywood dramatism. This is a beautifully shot, and incredibly well written film and I genuinely cannot think of a single complaint. I can't believe I was able to watch this in theatres in Canada. And the PUNJABI!! Hamza Ali Abbassi is LEGENDARY, and Fawad Khan is PHENOMENAL. The actors and their commitment to these roles shone through the movie and everything from the costumes, to the sets, to the dialogue is truly so well done. This is movie will leave Pakistan's mark on the world! The Legend of Maula Jutt: TRULY LEGENDARY!

Indian Jatt's review of The Legend of Maula Jatt
abhirajbolina-4826615 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The Legend of Maula Jatt goes back to the basics with its revenge plot which is told in an incredible way. I went in hyped but unsure of how Punjabi dialogues would feel coming from non-Punjabi actors, but to my surprise I was not disappointed. The movie is nearly 150 minutes long but keeps you glued to the screen through and through. All of the actors have done justice to their roles and the director has payed a beautiful homage not just to the original Maula Jatt but to all the old "Gandasa" films in general. The action scenes form an essential part of this film and they are gorey but spectacular. The only very minor problem that I personally think existed was right at the end with a camera angle.

(SPOILER: I wish the director had chosen a wider shot with both actors in the frame when Maula kills Noorie at the end of the film rather than a close up of Noorie's face)

All in all the film is a must watch especially for those who can understand a bit of Punjabi. I'm amazed that the greatest Punjabi film of our times has come out of Pakistan and not India. Hopefully we would see more joint ventures between the two Punjab's with the trend picking up as of late.

And Bilal Lashari delivers. Again.
arshadkhuhawar-9296614 October 2022
Bilal Lashari is really talented, he doesn't shy away from violence, the fight scenes are really brutal.

This movie should be tax free, Pakistan film industry really needs support, this movie was delayed for so long, it's most expensive movie Pakistan ever made, should at least cross 100cr. And it might do just that since a lot of people will watch it multiple times, and the audience clapped at the end.

Action, Performances, BGM, Dialogues, Locations everything is perfect.

And good thing movie doesn't have songs in between expect what Fawad and Mahira sing in their own voice for like 45 seconds.

Fawad's transformation made me feel really skinny all of a sudden, this bulky look really suits him, and i could not imagine Fawad in such a powerful role but he really pulls it off. Deserves all the best actor awards this year.

Hamza Abbasi's Noori Natt is menace. His performance will give you chills.

Sequel is unlikely since Fawad won't gain weight again as he faced health issues because he's a diabetic but i wish they make one where Maula Jatt fights tyrants like those old japanese movies Yojimbo, Sanjaro and Seven Samurai.

There are so many scenes i wanna talk about but just go see it yourself, it deserves a theater experience.

Will watch it 2 more times, maybe even 3.

Had a great time.

Swaad Aa Gaya Soneya!!!! - Now we need a sequel, prequel and season - Better than RRR and KGF
saadkhan-6183316 October 2022
This movie is a masterpiece and will remain one of the best in Pakistani Cinema. The movie is in Punjabi and thankfully it had good subtitles as well. The story, the direction, the acting, the location is just phenomenal. Marvel wasted the potential of Fawad Khan in Miss Marvel. His dialogue delivery, action scenes and speeches in the movie are absolutely amazing. Maula Jatt is not a superhero but the portrayal of character makes him a super hero who will fight against injustice and take his revenge. You will see a lot of good actors and familiar faces in this movie. Mahira and Umaima do not have much scenes as compared to other cast but they were still very good in their role. Gohar Rasheed was so scary and played his role the best. This movie is on a Hollywood level. Nothing larger than life like RRR and KGF. Pure realistic action. Next person to talk about is Hamza Ali Abbasi. He outdid himself. The best character in the movie, his dialogues are too good that you will remember them, His action scenes are great. All the characters are just so good that you would want them to keep on going. When it reached the intermission, I was sad that I have already watched half off the movie. C'mon Bilal Lashari, give us a prequel, sequel and seasons of Maula Jatt. We are up for it. I wanted to watch more of them and did not want any character to die. The VFX was so real unlike recent bollywood movies. The film is filled with violent scenes and too much blood shown. Direction was top level apart from the final blow which had a little impact because of the poor shot/camera angle.

In short, don't wait to watch this on TV. Go To theatres if you like action movies with real acting. The recent movies in Pakistani cinema were horrible. I did not like London nahin jaunga but this one is Paisa Vasool. Don't expect to see songs and dancing. This is a pure action movie from start to finish.

Now we have a cinematic Masterpiece!!!!
samikamboh16 October 2022
If you are expecting something great from this movie expect More, then expect More and expect More a thousand time then you will reach the level of this movie. This movie was not Pakistani cinema at its best, its THE cinema at its best. Hopefully it will be the revival of Pakistani Cinema. The characters... ufff (Maula, Noori, Daaro and Moda). Not only that the sceneries and whole setup was way above anyone's expectations. This is the best movie I've watched in years. Pakistani people need to watch this masterpiece and see the potential that Pakistani movies could have, and not only it was Pakistani it was in Punjabi. REVIVAL... HOPE...

The best Punjabi movie ever...
okhalid-2809714 October 2022
It's a must see movie!!! Very entertaining display of a Punjabi urban legend. For anyone interested in Punjabi movie culture, this movie will be absolute delight. I saw this movie in Sydney, it was a full house and got a standing ovation at the end!!! Although my kids don't understand the Punjabi language, but understood and really liked the move based on the sub titles. Noori Natt was my favourite character, but all the other characters were excellent too. After watching this move I would like to see the original version of Maula jutt movie too. Best of luck to the movie team, i think it will break all records at the box office.

One Word "Maverick"
imfarhanalvi13 October 2022
One of the finest movie Pakistan has made so far. A must watch flick. Gripping story, excellent performances and awesome cinematography made it feast to watch for movie lovers. "Deir se aye per Durust Aye" is the one right word for this movie. This movie will take Pakistan cinema to the next level. Direction was top notch, Fawad, Hamza and all other actors were treat to watch. Action sequences were jaw dropping. Some scenes were even better than Hollywood. In nut shell, this movie is fully "Paisa Wasool" and make you proud on Pakistani Cinema. I will recommend you to go and watch it with your family. ENJOY..!

The Great Revival of Pakistani Cinema
junaidirfan-1443413 October 2022
I haven't been this happy watching a movie in a long long time. No one could do a better and proper cinema revival of Pakistan other than Lashari. The story, character development, and outstandingly implemented screenplay by the creative genius himself. Everything about the movie reflected the perfectionism that went into making this. Can't express my emotions truly to see Pakistani cinema reaching the heights. Main cast didn't fail to surprise but man, was characters like Maakha and Mooda were well written. Thank you for doing this, Team of TLOMJ. This was very much necessary for the love of art and culture. Also, the aura and climate reminded me so much of characters and series like The Witcher and GOT. Without a doubt, it's a 10/10.

Brilliant
imdb-ikysmoviedatabase13 October 2022
I've been looking forward to this movie sins I've seen the trailer in August. I never knew it was a remake of the maula jatt 1979. So I watched the original on YouTube which was only good cause of the 2 lead characters maula jatt and nori nath. They pretty much stole the show so I was looking forward to this movie and it was a total blast coming from Pakistan. Luckily I didn't have to travel out of town to watch this movie. Again the lead 2 characters stole the show and the visuals and the story is really good to. A massive improvement from the 1979 movie and everyone should give this movie a try even Indian audiences.

Five Good Things about the Movie: (1 being the best) 1- Cinematography 2- Direction 3- Acting of Humaima Malik and Hamza Ali Abbasi 4- A pinch of some Humor 5- Visual Appeal

Five Bad Things about the Movie: (5 being the worst) 1- Unrealistic storyline 2- Excessive Violence 3- Earsplitting Dialogues 4- Punjabi Accent of some characters 5- Mahira Khan.

There are no songs in the Movie but that's OKAY with the story and the flow of the movie. This is one of the finest movie made so far in the history of Pakistan Film Industry which is truly a visual treat to watch. I just required an anti-migraine tablet after coming out of Cinema due to the loud dialogues.

An epic executed with perfection
gg202114 October 2022
This movie is a labor of love and every single thing in it was executed with perfection.

Every single frame, music, the script, acting - everything was amazing. One of the best movies to ever come out of Pakistan.

It was a 2.5 hour movie and it had the audience spell bound for the entirety.

Bilal should take a bow, he had delivered something truly magnificent and current and future movies will be evaluated against this.

The standout performances were from the villains in the movie, Hamza and Humaima absolutely killed it. While I was skeptical of casting Fawad in the main role, he really did come through.

The broken story, bad writing
Hammad-Hassan20 October 2022
Legend of Maula Jatt has taken the audience by storm as movie-goers are taking a huge interest in the film and have applauded the new film with the hope that has opened new horizons for the Pakistan film industry and has set a benchmark for Lollywood films to be made in future.

The turnout might be huge and the big-budget film is doing remarkable business as well across the world which as the matter of fact is altogether another dynamic that I'm not interested to discuss today.

The core issue that needs to be addressed about the film is its story, characters, plot, sequences, and dialogues. A story is not about actions or external events that occur on the surface but how those events affect characters to develop an emotional attachment with that we see their internal struggles to carry out the outer goal.

In Legend of Maula Jatt it lacked everything. A broken story, with two-dimensional characters, bad sequences, nonsense dialogues, and a weak plot. When the film opens we don't know in what part of the world we are nor do we have any sense of time, you immediately lose connection with the pace of the plot. Hence one even struggles to catch up with the brutal action upfront killing the parents of Maula Jatt (who is still a boy) at the hands of men from Naths. Why they killed them, we have literally no clue. The little boy, however, succeeded to get away with the scene and is then adopted by a woman from a neighboring village who takes her along with her. Only God knows why she adopted him, we have no clue about it either. The little Maula Jatt then lives with her real son who later in the film proved to be his true friend if not merely his stepbrother.

As Jatts are a famous clan in Punjab, we are hinted promptly with the space. They are considered to be a superior class among the other castes. Naths, on the other hand, are the lowest people usually called yogis. In reality, there is no evidence of any rivalry between the clans in the pages of history.

As the movie moves further we just get a glimpse of time from the presence of silver coins and bronze or metal pots which are indicative of Akbar's reign or sometime around that era because we heard the word "paisa" on quite a few occasions which also showed lack of research on the end of the writer. The silver coins in Akbar's era were called paisas.

Hence the events in the film might have occurred about 500 years back. Well, we just wasted some time to reach the conclusion.

Soon after we meet with the grown-up Maula Jatt whose appearance and size reflect a well-fed bear. He fights the neighbouring villagers in gladiatorial games which are well copied from films like Gladiator, and Benhur, and shows like Spartacus where they have shown Romans indulging in bloody cut-throat games and the fighters are always kept as their slaves. But the historical reverences in those depictions are more logical and in accordance with the fact. But here in Punjab, hardly heard of such kill-to-death-like arenas where hard hitters are pummeling poor souls from lower clans.

Maula Jatt has emerged as a drunken badass kind of a guy living on human killings. Let's absorb it for a second but why was he seen initially being on odd terms with her guardian mother? I still am figuring it out. Simply, bad characterization. We all know there has been a trauma he is suffering from it and slowly indulged to take revenge for her parent's killing at hands of Naths. We still can't root for him as there are not enough scenes to make us connect to his soul. Well, the goal is pretty much clear but fighting and killing his nemesis eventually, in the end, is the story? NO. Romeo killed himself and then Juliet's suicide soon after is not a story. The story might be something that rivalry among the clans can destroy their dearest even, what is Maula Jatt's story? It's whimsical storytelling and the writer seems to have no command of it.

That's the problem with most writers they only work on the plot thinking that they are telling a story. Whereas they are just connecting events. The holes in the plot are obvious in this film on several occasions. Why Noori Nath, the fierce nemesis who has seen telling more than a dozen occasions that "God why you always send me goats to fight, send me lions" is such a fierce giant at the first instance is because he tells by himself that he has become so animal because as a child he killed the man who was sent by his own father to dump the newly born girl, his younger sister alive under a grave. Now the question is why his father wants to kill his own daughter, we have no clue. Then ironically, when his father the chieftain of the Nath clan sent him to jail because of his useless killing spree, he had ample chance to kill his daughter but he never did. It's bad bad writing.

On the contrary, she herself has become a strong Nathni and wants to become the chieftain herself as the only better character in the film. Treacherous, cunning, fearless, and blunt. Humaima is played with better acting and honors the role unlike Makhu character played by Mahira Khan, who may be shown as a simple expressionless girl has not suited well in her character. Again who she is, we have no clue. A lone girl from the same village might be the only answer. So why we must care for her? A few moments of intimacy with Fawad Khan were expressionless with weak acting and bad dialogue delivery. So in the end when she is tied against the pole by Noori Nath, she has less to say but with even lesser dexterity. You never connect with her. The screenplay is full of badly written dialogue. Always on the nose, with nothing sub-textual or meaningful. Most of the dialogues are forcefully written to show the grandeur of the character rather than to reveal the character from the inside. Moreover, these dialogues are not meant to write for advancing the story but always to reek of rivalry, rage, grandiosity, and meaninglessness.

Maula Jatt's character arc is simple but has missed certain events to prove why he is what he is now. Anyhow, a man, you may call him a mentor or savor of the city emerge from nowhere and relinquishes the memory of his parent's murder and gives him Gandasa, a symbol or motif of ultimate power and vulnerability. From here on Maula's illusioned vision gets clearer and he has only one job at hand to kill every Nath on earth. But the changed man Maula soon realizes it's better to save the city rather than avenge his personal debt. This could have been the strongest point of the story but it never dwells on it because the writer has no clue except to force the protagonist to take revenge. But revenge from Noori Nath. Why? They have no mutual grudge in the beginning. It's only when Maula kills six well-known furious-looking Naths in a single event, that Noori was called upon from the jail to take on the challenge. As he exits from the jail, why he was humble towards the jailer who remained harsh on him throughout his stay? One could extract from this event that Noori is kind at heart but he never showed it, especially when he kills Maula's friend or step-brother while saying these divine words," Only if I had a line of forgiveness on my palm".

In the first two interaction scenes of Maula with Daaro, we see she already fell in love with him. Why? The two arch-rival families with her plans already worked out, why she wants him to get married and share the crown. Why she would go against the will of his ever-loving brother Noori who saved her in her childhood and makes her the new Sardar? For instance, If this happens, where the Naths would earn their "bhattas". Again, this word is quite modern as compared to the era we have agreed upon. Anyhow, as she gets out after being rejected by Maula, she is treacherously killed by another rival Naths within the clan family whose son she killed while addressing her designs. The story lurking here is more intimidating than what we have seen on Maula's side which is flat and lacks colours, depth, and arc.

The plot is trying to believe us that Noori is being cheated by the rival Naths fixing Maula to be her sister's killer. How simple. Noori, for God's sake not for a second thought about how could Maula run away from the jail when he himself could not run away from the jail throughout his life. Moreover, he seems to have no sense of why the rival Naths are planning and looks like he doesn't know what happened when he was in jail. So he's not intelligent, schemer, or witty. Yes, this is also appreciated for the fact that he brutally smashes to kill his father in front of everyone for just interrupting between him and Maula. So he has proved to be a lose-tempered, out-of-brain kind of a guy. Poor writing prevails.

The last scene, which was directed not to perfection as Bilal Lashari otherwise did throughout the film with great music, cinematography, and computer graphics. His master intervention was the fall of debris through the hole when Noori smacked a guy's head against the wall and kills him instantly. The last fight scene which is the reason the whole screenplay is written fills the guts of the plot and looks ordinary. For merely two reasons. Firstly the arena was empty meaning the final fight mattered to none and failed the cause of our protagonist. Secondly, the camera angle was too close to the fighters giving a smaller look to the horizon, a shallow look that is not parallel to the gravity of the fight and the resolution of the climax.

Films are not about the settings or great cinematography, it's about the point of the story proving wrong or right. It's about the story, internal struggle, and achieving the goal after fulfilling wants. Maula Jatt lacks every sense of the story. Just imagine the same story without this great setting and sets, what you are left with... void.

So far best movie by Pakistan
bumair-4495513 October 2022
10/10 what a screen play, dialogues , sets, and story line... Must watch. It will create history for sure. Every character of the film delivers its best.

Hamza Ali and Fawad khan has delivered iconic performance also Maira khan and Humaima are outstanding. Proud of Pakistani cinema and content.

Story line was little predictable but cinmatography was awsome. BILAL lashari has thouroughly worked hard on screenplay and direction. Specially it gives an authentic feeler of old times village tale with authentic sets and remarkable locations chosen. Costumes were also commendable. The best part is that there is no song and youbdont even miss to have songs and dances ..

The Legend Of Maula Jett this is Peak Cinema
usamagh-6937113 October 2022
The Legend of Maula Jatt is an experience that takes you beyond anything you've ever witnessed in Pakistan before. It's the kind of seeti baja, taali maar, paisa wasool film that'll redefine Pakistani cinema.

Fell asleep and have woken up in complete awe of #thelegendofmaulajutt. The impact of this film will reverberate for years, until this epic standard becomes norm for Pakistani cinema. It has given theatrical ambition serious wings.

As worthy opponents, Maula and Noori deliver the kind of rivalry that justify the legend. Fawada Khan and Hamza Ali Abbasi are pure perfection. When things get too gory, Mukho brings in the sizzle and Mooda brings in the relief that lightens, brightens and delights.

Daro and Maakha are relentlessly menacing, packaged in well created and unforgettable avatars.

And of course, Billal Lashari creates a world that is panoramic and larger than life, befitting to the legend. A huge round of applause to Nasir Adeeb s'b for the historic dialogues, Ammara Hikmat for having the vision and muscle to believe in The Legend of Maula Jett.

Maula nu Maula na maray te Maula nae marda!
muhammadomar-5536914 October 2022
I don't even have words for what I just saw.

Just incredible everything was perfect the dialogues, the action scenes, the story, the music, the acting and the end!

Everybody did an absolutely amazing job I am really proud that such content came from my country Pakistan.

I do want to highlight one thing I saw many people criticizing that Mahira Khan wasn't good with her Punjabi accent I am not a Punjabi speaker so I can't really say much about it but to me it was fine. Honestly speaking her role wasn't as impactful in the movie not because she didn't do a good job but because everybody else was so good that even her amazing performance got shadowed.

Bilal you are the guy and I really want you to make amazing movies like The Legend of Maula Jatt!

For everyone who hasn't seen the movie and is thinking if they should watch it. The answer is absolutely YES!

We need to highlight these kind of movies everything felt real nothing seemed fake.

Not to our Bollywood under the bus but they do include some ridiculous stuff in there movies but in this one everything felt raw and real.

It's a treat and you all should watch it!

lmubasher14 October 2022
OMG what a movie, it's a masterpiece. I witnessed the first show on the first day of October 13. The hall erupted in praise.

I've never seen this kind of energy for a movie, let alone Avengers. The movie is full of thriller, story, rivalry, action, fight.

After first watch, you will be failed to hold yourself to watch it again. Because I bought tickets for the second day too, I will see again today.

What a masterpiece I must say.

Hamza Ali abbasi nailed it, without spoiling I want to say that at the end of movie maula said his dialogue " Jay mauly nu maula na mary ty maula ni mar sakda " which means " If ALLAH don't want to kill maula, then no ine can kill maula ".

And end. The hall was chanted with clapping after ut.

Maula Jatt is AMAZING

Wow man I just cannot describe in words how good this movie was. The direction, acting, writing and editing was just phenomenal. This movie truly did not disappoint. Honestly felt really good to see a Pakistani movie produced of such an outstanding standard in a long time. Fawad Hamza were just phenomenal. They played their roles extremely well and were a perfect fit for them. Mahira and Humaima also played their roles quite well. The rest of the cast were perfect too. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. The action, the gore was perfect. It beats any Bollywood movie I've ever seen. Bollywood, who? The movie presented Punjabi culture extremely well. This is truly a work of art and will entertain many generations to come. I absolutely suggest yall to go and watch this movie.

The hype was totally unjustified.
arslanmanzoor12331 October 2022
After seeing a lot of hype for this movie I decided to watch it and it was a sheer disappointment. Not a movie that will ever have a replay value. Highly overrated. The main reason was that the story was highly predictable since the start. The movie description written on Rotten Tomatoes is exactly what the whole movie is about. Revenge. Many scenes were predictable as well. Acting was pretty bad by all actors except Hamza Ali Abbasi and Gohar Rashid. Only these two guys made the movie worth watching. The presentation of the movie was the only good thing about that earned it a 6/10. The cinematic angles and camera work was top notch but that doesn't do any good when the story line is so so weak, predictable and only two actors are acting like their character.

Can't find this anywhere
Arius_Scourger12 May 2023
In today's digital age, streaming services have become the go-to source for accessing a vast library of films. With just a few clicks, viewers can indulge in their favorite movies anytime, anywhere. However, when a highly anticipated film like "The Legend Maula Jatt" fails to make its online debut, it leaves fans feeling disheartened and perplexed. After all, the convenience of streaming platforms has instilled an expectation of instant accessibility, making the absence of this film all the more disappointing.

The impact of this inaccessibility extends beyond mere disappointment. A film's availability on online platforms greatly influences its reach and recognition. By remaining absent from streaming services, "The Legend Maula Jatt" is missing out on the opportunity to establish its presence in the global film industry. Additionally, dedicated filmmakers and actors associated with the project miss the chance to showcase their talents on an international scale, hindering their growth and recognition.

Brilliant remake of a Legend
aamirjaffar14 October 2022
A brilliant and awesome remake of the legendary Maula Jutt. The movie kept the true spirit of the original with great dialogue, larger than life characters. Both Fawad and Hamza have been brilliant in thier characters. Humaima Maliks character and her acting was great. Mahira Khan disappointed. Neither she seem fit for that character and nor she did a good job. Could have been anyone there.

But overall, great production with aesthetically satisfying cinematography. It was great that there were no blaring songs, rather good background score that enhanced the mood. Bilal has done it again brilliantly.
