Sex & Nudity

  • The lead character is in a sexual relationship with a woman, and is seen in bed with her, but no sex or nudity. Another character is a drag-artist whose life is watched via webcam. He says viewers like to see him having sex or defecating.

Violence & Gore

  • Many graphic scenes of what is effectively cage fighting.

Profanity

  • Fuck, prick and shit are all used frequently in the English subtitles. Faggot is used in the subtitles; the French word is 'pédérast', which has a slightly different meaning - suggesting an attraction to underage males.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Drug use is a major theme. Fighters are routinely given performance-enhancing drugs. Indeed, the sport is a proving ground for such pharmaceuticals, with contestants representing manufacturers. Combatants are given injections immediately before fights, openly discussed in commentary.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The main character, his sister, and her two daughters are in frequent peril. Significant characters die.
