Worst Behaviour

Warning: Spoilers
The fight scene at the end, as improbable and ridiculous as it is, was incredible TV and gave us a glimpse of what this show could be. We don't need a strong story (even though I would like to see one) if we get nonstop action in every episode.

This is supposed to be the big budget summer popcorn flick version of the Marvel Netflix shows. Tonight, it finally lived up to that hype.

Not Your Normal Superhero Team

Warning: Spoilers
This has the potential to take the best of four separate mostly-successful series and make it something greater than the sum of its parts. Sadly, some of its parts are lacking...

I'm talking Luke Cage and Jessica Jones; two solid series with flawed main characters that really don't work in a larger world...or cast. Within the context of their own shows, their actions, attitudes, and behaviors 'work'.

In *this* show, Jessica comes off as a spoiled, privileged rhymes-with-witch whom nobody would willingly tolerate unless they're working off serious puppy-kicking karma. Her attitude is somewhat off-putting, to say the least; most of us like our heroes flawed but...you know, *heroic*.

Luke...is stupid. Now, this is a staple of comics, so that's okay...when two heroes meet, they have to have some sort of misunderstanding and fight before they can team up. In this case, Luke is 'defending' a poor clueless kid just trying to feed his family...by cleaning up a multiple murder scene. This is not something *anyone* sympathetic does in a civilized society. Yes, there is social injustice, but one does not relieve it by committing more horrors on your particular side. When Luke told Danny he shouldn't be using his Iron Fist on guys just trying to feed their families, Danny should have replied he wasn't, he was using it on criminals.

These two...Luke and Jessica...come off as terribly selfish and self-involved in this series. Definitely not heroes or even decent people. By contrast, Danny is naïve and way too focused. Matt is...well, Matt is kinda awesome as always, as believable as a blind guy whose super-power is being able to effectively 'see' better than an optometrist can be.

All in all, a good idea that's experiencing some 'growing pains', trying to fit four separate and distinct heroes and styles into one ensemble show. Not every attempt is going to enjoy the success 'The Avengers' had...but in that case, every character was a bona-fide hero, so the fit was more comfortable. In this, at least three of the main characters have wildly different goals, which don't really seem to involve saving or helping anyone but themselves or their particular bias.

That said, the first three episodes are decent enough for me to finish out the rest of the series. The acting is a bit better than you might expect, and for all that the different personalities lessen my enjoyment or immersion, I really like that our main characters are not clones; they all have different goals and motivations.

Finally some good stuff
leykaa20 August 2017
After two horrible episodes, we've got something to soothe the pain - good old fight scene. This and Jessica Jones' sass. The Hand storyline is still the dumbest fiction out there, they keep saying "The Hand" as if it will inflict some kind of sacred scare upon us, Stanislavskiy is swirling in his grave. Jessica will remain my favourite, i can tell it now even thou i have five eps to go.

Os Defensores (2017)

Series

1st Season

Episode Three - Péssimo Comportamento

I remember that when they released the second season of the Daredevil series, they criticized the performance of the actress who plays Elektra, so far I think she's very good.

What was that little speech from Luke Cage to Iron Fist?

Just because you're black and live close to Luke Cage can you work as a henchman for an evil corporation?

And whoever tries to stop him has to listen to an irritating monologue from him?

People hate Iron Fist, but so far I prefer him to Luke Cage, Iron Fist's lines sound artificial but I still prefer him.

The guys that Luke Cage beat at the end of the episode without hesitation probably also have a family and work for this organization, but since the majority of them are not black and don't even live close to the super protector of those in need, they deserve a beating, in short, hypocrisy.

Of the four, my favorite character is Jessica Jones, then Matt Murdock, then Danny Rand and then a giant abyss, then comes Luke Cage.

Without this little speech, I would give it a 10, because the episode was very good, I liked Elektra's origin as Black Sky, Jéssica Jones' core, but I definitely believe that I no longer have the patience for these hypocrisies, and look, I do, only 27 years old.

Oh, just one thing, at no point did I write that the henchmen at the end of the episode didn't deserve to be beaten, because they did, but if it's true for them, it also has to be true for the kid who was a henchman too, and it doesn't matter if he's black, white, blue , pink, if you live near Luke Cage, Santa Claus, Voldermort, Ash Ketchum, if you do anything bad you have to get punched.

Episode three of the first season of the Miniseries Os Defensores watched on May 3, 2024.

Finally comes together
Leofwine_draca4 February 2022
Finally this is an episode where it all comes together. A slow start but then towards the end it just clicks leading to a crowd-pleasing climax. Let's hope this is how it carries on from now.

Better than Episodes 1 & 2

Warning: Spoilers
Live Reaction / Review for The Defenders Episode 03: The second episode was mediocre, I gave it a rating of 6.3/10. I hope this episode is an upgrade. Elektra seems different after this ''ritual'', I wonder if she knows who she is and if she has her memories. The fight scenes with Elektra are really cool. Lol I like how Cage and Iron fist annoy each other. Why was Jessica following and took pictures of Matt? Interesting. I like Luke more and more with each episode, I don't know about Iron Fist, I find his character to be a little tasteless and boring but he could be good in future episodes, i dont know. The fight scene towards the end inside the office was super cool. Finally the team is complete. Love the way the episode ends. Ok this episode is far better than the previous but not as good as I want it to be. My rating is 7/10.
