Spy games continue!
mm-3913 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Spy games continue. Young and naive Hans (South African) learns first hand how bloody the Spy games are. Phil is having a hard time living multiple lives, while dealing with heartless Liz who is indoctrinating the couple's daughter, which Phil objects to. The crux of the Walter Taffet story is when and if Phil will crack. Desperate/lonely Martha almost gets caught by the F B I spying for Phil. Will a suspicious and possible incarcerated Martha cause Phil to break? As the season continues the pressure is mounting on Phil. What factor will hurt Phil the most as Phil questions and finds an emptiness in the deep cover life. Well acted and directed. I give Walter Taffet a eight out of ten.

Noah's Arc
kgenereux-75-53357612 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Noah Emmerich directs in the most heart-racing episode of season 3 yet. Maybe it's because he knows this series so well, but Mr. Emmerich shows us suspense and pacing par excellence. The episode had too many highlights to count, but it's the action scenes that were kick-in-the-head this week. Even clever Hans didn't have a clue as to what might go down while playing "silent" look-out for a Jennings operation in a boring-ass part of DC. His expression in a few fleeting final frames summed up my amazement as well. Priceless. All this action went down in an impossible to breathe 3 minute coda; If it was much longer I would have had to reach for my albuturol. (Small spoiler: Delectably, the action is "virtually" set into motion with a time-machine guitar solo from Fleetwood Mac's "Break the Chain".) A very fierce Episode of THE best show on TV right now. And to Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys: you guys rock my world. All I can add is wow.

Great episode

The Jennings plot to foil a student incident whilst Martha is put in a compromising position.

I thoroughly enjoyed this episode for the character moments, suspense and breathless final sequence.

The story focuses on Phillip's emotional state with what's happening with Paige, but some unexpected events involving Martha impact him as the subplots collide. Alongside this is their latest mission which is incorporated well into the overall narrative.

There are a lot of particularly well made and memorable scenes in this episode. I actually felt as angry as Phillip in one early exchange with Elizabeth and how this scene is filmed works brilliantly. Many other scenes also work well for different reasons but I won't mention specifics so as not to spoil .

I loved the cinematography, sound effects, editing and use of music in the this episode. It is an example of great visual storytelling and all round entertaining filmmaking.

All performances, as always, are excellent, particularly Matthew Rhys, Kerri Russell, Alison Wright and Noah Emmerich who had the added responsibility of directing the episode.

Not quite perfect, but not far off. 9.5/10 for me.

Superb.

This was amazing. Having Noah Emmerich directing the action displayed his fine directing talent. Pacing and suspense were perfect, and the final scenes with Fleetwood Mac's The Chain really set it off nicely. I hope Noah does some more directing, he really gave the episode the spice.
