What exactly is BASEketball anyway? If you’re a child of a certain era, you know exactly what it is. If not, well, let me explain. In the late nineties, the hottest comic duo was no doubt Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Together, they had charted a unique path to stardom. Two University Of Colorado grads, the two had their beginnings in the early nineties when they made a micro-budget indie called Cannibal: The Musical, which, despite failing to get into the Sundance Film Festival, became kind of a calling card for them. It got them a unique job directing a corporate film about Universal Pictures for Seagrams, who were acquiring the company, thanks to the patronage of David Zucker, one of the directors behind The Naked Gun, Top Secret and Airplane, who was a fan of their movie. They parlayed their success into a low-budget comedy called Orgazmo, which...

The humble beginnings of Matt Stone and Trey Parker's "South Park" are nothing short of inspiring, with two friends crafting a stop-motion short film that would evolve into one of the most popular and longest-running shows in television history. "The Spirit of Christmas" was first released in 1992 (colloquially referred to as "Jesus vs. Frosty") and again in 1994 as a Christmas card (colloquially known as "Jesus vs. Santa" to differentiate) Fox executive Brian Graden had commissioned to send to his friends. Parker and Stone then developed the characters and the mountain town setting into what would become "South Park," and the rest is history.
This timeline certainly makes "South Park" sound like one of those dreamy Hollywood Cinderella stories in which two unknown comedy animators were plucked from obscurity to become billionaires and one award shy of earning Egot status. However, this narrative ignores the countless other projects -- both...

South Park is not what you would consider a sentimental show. Yet, for the many years the animated classic has been on the air, it’s proven that it has a soft spot for holiday joy. Sure, that soft spot just happens to include a sentient Christmas turd but that’s just the closest you’re going to get to ooey-gooey feelings with creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
In its earlier seasons, South Park‘s schedule often ran through December and the show was happy to provide viewers with an accompanying Christmas special. Christmas episodes have become rarer for the series since but there are still at least 10 distinct holiday installments in the show’s canon…and that’s not even including “The Spirit of Christmas” short from 1995 that would eventually become South Park.
In the spirit of the season, we decided to go ahead and rank all of the South Park Christmas specials!

The adult animated comedy series “South Park” is back with its 26th season, and the same crew — Cartman, Kenny, Kyle and Stan — are all back as well.
The Season 26 trailer of the politically satirical, sometimes offensive and always hilarious adult series opened with Butters in an extremely strange situation, showing how viewers will never be able to know just exactly what’s in store.
Coming off the height of its 25th anniversary, the series is now the longest-running cable-scripted series. And it won’t be ending any time soon, as it will continue on through 2027 to reach 30 seasons as part of MTV Entertainment Studios’ deal with the show’s creators Matt Stone and Trey Park.

"South Park" began its life as a series of crudely animated short film called "The Spirit of Christmas," which Matt Stone and Trey Parker made while students at the University of Colorado. The first short, made with paper cutouts, featured several small boys witnessing an ultra-violent fight between Jesus Christ and Frosty the Snowman. It was all very amusing. When Brian Graden, a Fox executive, saw "The Spirt of Christmas," he gave Stone and Parker $1,000 to remake it as a personal video Christmas card he was going to share with friends. The central fight was changed to Jesus...

This year’s Oscars have set a new record for the largest number of entries ever in the Best Original Song category, but the 105 eligible songs do not include Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’ “(If Only You Could) Save Me,” a 1930s-style big band song from “Mank” that was recently nominated for the second annual Society of Composers and Lyricists Awards.
The song is heard briefly coming from a radio in the background of one scene and plays for only about 40 seconds. Academy rules require “a clearly audible, intelligible, substantive rendition of both lyric and melody,” and the song was judged to not fulfill that requirement.
Other songs that didn’t make the list, although they were thought to be in the running, include “Uh Oh” from “Promising Young Woman” and “Boss Bitch” from “Birds of Prey.” Even without those, the list of eligible songs tops 100 for the first time...

Who, in the music world, is the true queen of Christmas? There are going to be some fan bases with some very strong opinions about that, it goes without saying. But for some of us, Christmas is Love… Darlene Love, the principal voice (on songs both credited and uncredited) of Phil Spector’s 1963 compilation “A Christmas Gift for You.” Your sleigh mileage may vary, but between the pair of Love-sung songs that bookend that collection — “White Christmas” and the original “Christmas” — and an addition to the canon with 1992’s “All Alone on Christmas,” there’s a case to be made that Love is singularly responsible for the three greatest single Christmas records of all time.
Love is highly visible again this holiday season with a couple of projects. In Netflix’s “The Christmas Chronicles 2,” she shares a full-scale musical number, “The Spirit of Christmas,” with Kurt Russell, who plays Santa,...

Spoiler Alert: Santa Claus blows a mean sax.
The high point of Netflix’s The Christmas Chronicles 2 comes at its least festive moment. The young and grieving teen Kate Pierce (Darby Camp) is mistaken for a runaway and taken away by airport authorities–while being lost in time–all the flights on Logan International Airport’s big board turn from hour-long delays to outright cancellations, and joy in that small part of Boston drops to 7 percent. People are all up in each other’s grills, nerves are frayed, and complimentary hotel stays are not going to cut it. They are not a merry bunch. If ever there was a time for a holiday miracle, this would be it. Only now, when things are at their darkest, does a flustered ticket agent named Grace (Darlene Love) reach for the public address microphone–and deliver “The Spirit of Christmas.”

South Park is now a multi-million dollar industrial complex, but all of that would have been unimaginable to creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone when they first teamed up back in 1992. They were students at the University of Colorado at the time, and Parker was already working on a film called Giant Beavers of Southern Sri Lanka. “It was sort of a Godzilla thing,” Parker told Rolling Stone in 1998. “But with a huge beaver. I had a little girl dressed in a beaver costume rampaging a town.”

Santa Claus is as old as South Park itself. Saint Nick first appeared in Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s underground short “The Spirit of Christmas,” the viral video that led to the creation of South Park—long before viral videos were even a thing. The concept of “Father Christmas” dates back to 16th century England. So you can forgive Kris Kringle if he’s a little conservative in the philosophical sense. In this modern age, the spirit of Christmas has yet again taken on new meaning in the town of South Park.

After a week off, SyFy’s Happy! is back with an episode that sets up some big things to come. There’s really no other way to describe this week’s episode, “White Sauce? Hot Sauce?”. It’s definitely a set up of something bigger coming in the next episode. This isn’t particularly a bad thing, and the episode has plenty of exciting moments, but the content acts more as a lead-in than anything. Again, these moments need to happen, and the episode does them incredibly well, but it’s also worth noting that not a lot actually happened in this episode. We start where we left off,
