Portugal. The Man have recruited an unlikely guest, the metal wiz Mizmor, to do a reworking of their song “Doubt,” which originally appeared on their June 2023 album Chris Black Changed My Life.
While Mizmor’s black metal definitely seems like a far cry from Portugal. The Man’s retro-inspired pop-rock, the two acts actually do have a personal connection: “My brother, Ryan, used to play in Portugal. The Man, and I was the kid brother who played heavy music,” Mizmor says in a press release. “Instead of stripping everything away and rebuilding from the ground up, like many remixes do, I was able to almost directly adapt the chords into my style.”
Complete with an extra doom-y outro that cleverly weaves in vocals from Ptm’s own Zoe Manville, Mizmor’s version of “Doubt” isn’t just a remix — it’s a whole new beast. Watch the equally-harrowing music video below.

NBC has put in development Nancy Drew, a drama inspired by the famous children’s books, from Doubt creators Tony Phelan and Joan Rater, producer Dan Jinks and CBS TV Studios. This is the same creative team that was behind the 2016 CBS pilot of the same name. But beyond the title and the underlying source material, there is very little in common between the projects as NBC’s is based on a brand-new idea by Phelan and Rater. CBS’ Doubt drew 1.73 million total viewers and a 0.2 demo rating this Saturday night as the quickly cancelled drama’s burn-off run got underway. That is down sharply and expectedly from the 5.3 mil/0.8 and 4 mil/0.6 that its first two, foreboding episodes delivered back in February.

The Show Was Dumb No Doubt About It
I feel like staying far away from Civil War II this week. How far away? I’m not even writing about comic books. That far.
Doubt was another attempt to do a Shonda Rhimes style show without Shonda Rhimes. CBS tried to hedge its bets by having former Grey’s Anatomy Katherine Heigl headline Doubt. Did that help? Even less than her presence helped in her last show, State of Affairs. State of Affairs lasted 13 episodes. CBS pulled Doubt after only two episodes. Which is one more episode than I was able to last. Doubt was such a huge turkey it could have fed the Eight is Enough brood and still have had enough to give the Brady Bunch leftovers. But I digest.

When will Katherine Heigl catch a break?
Apparently not on television in 2017.
While CBS isn't officially calling it a cancelation, Doubt has been pulled from the schedule after just two airings. It will be replaced first by a repeat of Bull and then by the (also not a hit) Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders.
CBS will likely be open to burning off the series during the summer, and that's probably the reason it's not being called a cancelation.
There were more than two episodes available for screening before the series debuted, and I can attest that Doubt Season 1 Episode 2 was the worst of the bunch.
If you read my initial Doubt Review, I said as much. At that point, and if you watched, you no doubt (ugh) saw it, too, the show was having an early identity crisis.
Was it a legal drama to be taken seriously or one in the vein of Ally McBeal?...

That was fast! After airing just two episodes, CBS is taking Doubt off of its schedule, and could be done with the legal drama. Next week, its timeslot (Wednesdays at 10 p.m.) will be filled by a rebroadcast of Bull. Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders will premiere its second season in that spot on March 8. The show could still theoretically return, but we're told there is no time table in place yet. Doubt debuted last week to just over 5 million viewers, and then fell to 4 million in its second week. For comparison, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders premiered to nearly 9 million viewers last year. Doubt starred Katherine Heigl as Sadie Ellis, a brilliant lawyer who...

CBS has pulled the Katherine Heigl legal drama “Doubt” from the schedule after just two episodes, the network announced Friday. The series, which was created by “Grey’s Anatomy” alums Tony and Joan Phelan, had completed production on all 13 episodes. It is unclear when or if the remaining 11 episodes will air. For now, “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders” will take over the show’s Wednesday night time slot beginning March 8. “Doubt” premiered last week to relatively low ratings. The first episode pulled a 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic, making it the lowest-rated show among the Big Four networks in its timeslot.

Let there be no more doubt about the lack of interest in CBS’ “Doubt.” Wednesday’s second episode of the Laverne Cox legal drama dropped 25 percent in TV ratings from last week’s poor premiere. That decline can be seen in both the key 18-49 demographic and among total viewers.
As such, CBS relinquished the evening’s regular overall audience win to NBC. ABC’s sitcoms carried the Disney broadcaster to the top slot among adults 18-49.

Doubt can be a dangerous emotion.
It can ruin friendships, relationships, and lives when given too much power.
Doubt Season 1 Episode 1 gave us our first look at what has potential to be a very intriguing series.
The premise, of course, is doubt.
Very few cases are clear cut. Even if someone is found not guilty, doubt still exists unless there is physical evidence.
Exonerated people often have to live the rest of their lives wondering whether their families and friends believe they are guilty.
So, while giving his blood may not have been the wisest legal move for his defense, it's hard to blame Billy for wanting to do it. Physical evidence is terribly hard to deny, and he said how important it is to him that Sadie believes he's innocent.
Personally, I'm already invested in his case and their relationship. I can't wait to find out what those test results reveal.
