Gutsy little sci-fi short.
Spanish made, filmed in Cantonese and set in the bay of Hong Kong.
The film tells the tale of a frustrated multi-generation squid fisherman down on his luck who goes out in a desperate bid to change his fortunes and gets far more than he expected.
When the credits rolled it was bittersweet, it was short enough to not damage itself but at the same time I found myself craving more.
Well made considering the budget, the leading man was excellent and the SFX were competent enough. Truth be told the opening credits had me in awe purely because of the setting, its not something you see very often and was beautiful, touching but at the same time heartbreaking that people still live with such daily struggles.
Sitting at just 19 minutes including the credits I would recommend this to any fan of sci-fi or horror and hope it's creators go on to big things maybe even a full feature length version of this due to its ending.
This movie is also Asian, contains tentacles and features no "Funny business" I haven't seen this much restraint since Assassination Classroom (2015)
