Pretty well done and entertaining for a student film

-The Strategist Anthology (2013) movie review: -The Strategist Anthology was a student film released in 2013. It follows Isaac Rosenburg as he is pitted against a madman who can control time travel. He must stop The Strategist before he can alter the past and the future.

-I will try not to be biased, because I helped in a few technical categories and was a supporting actor…. However I had not reviewed it and thought I should! -The story is original and thorough, as far as time travel goes. The Strategist is a compilation of four shorter films: The Strategist 1, 2, 3, and Compound. The story is bent around compound, which was made well, but feels slightly out of place. Aside from some small inconsistencies though, I really liked the progression of the story and moral issues it develops.

-The pace is pretty good. The transition from Strategist 2 to 3 is a major change, which is a bump in the pace. However it moves fast for a 2 hour film! -The acting is mostly good for a student film. There are a few moments all around, but you can tell that all the actors, including me, gets better and better over the films! It stars Isaac F. Davis, Ethan Martin, Zach Alexander, Caroline Rowell, Todd Seymour, Keenan Gasway, Michael Preziosco, and myself, along with a few others I don't have room to mention. But everybody looks like they are dedicated and pull out some good performances! -The characters are well done, and either likable or dislikable in a good way. There are some inconsistent characteristics with a few, but noting ridiculous or anything.

-The music was boldly, but smartly, compiled of soundtracks like Lost or a few other Michael Giacchino scores. In this case I think that was a fitting choice because of more limited options as far as scoring a student film goes.

-Probably the biggest flaw with the film, and it fell under my department actually, so I don't mind pointing it out, it the fighting. There are some really bad punches thrown in this film. Combine that with some last minute ADR and you have a few moments in the film that are accidentally funny. But hey, at least it is always entertaining! -There are also some great scenes that are tense, emotional, funny, etc. that make The Strategist so entertaining.

-The production value ranges from slightly below average in the beginning to far above expectations (for a student film) in the end! -So to sum all that up, The Strategist Anthology has some flaws that you will find in any student film, but it is also full of compelling and entertaining materials that get better and better. Plus I am in it, so yeah. The Strategist Anthology is totally worth checking out! And it is on Vimeo for free!
