King George V
Prismark1010 January 2017
King George V was the grandson of Queen Victoria and this documentary portrays him as an innovator who guided the monarchy to the modern era after the Edwardian era. A man of conservative values who had to deal with the first Labour government with the full knowledge of what the socialists in Russia did to his cousins.

Of course the royal family have been changing their outlook to their subjects in small degrees usually inspired by revolution in Europe, something Queen Victoria and Prince Albert were conscious of.

King George might not had been an intellectual but he listened to his advisers to deal with sensitive situations such as the falling out with his kinfolk, the German king in the lead up to the Great War. He changed the surname Saxe-Coburg to Windsor in 1917 due to anti German sentiments.

As a father he was a strict disciplinarian but doted on his granddaughter the present Queen.

This was probably not the most illuminating of documentaries, more a quick guide.
