You don't need much to make a successful clip. A true 1980's classic

A ridiculously limited budget followed with a potent sound made this clip one of the greatest of that glorious decade. "A Flock of Seagulls" video for their smash hit "I Ran (So Far Away)" is one of those things that, honestly, never gets old. Sure, there's clichés and seems dated but the benefit we get from it even now is unsurpassed. Those were the 1980's and the idea was to have the sound of the future; not necessarily that we folks from the 21st century would be hearing (some of us still are) but in more aesthetics/visual terms. Watch the clip and you'll get the idea: it seems that the band is from outer space with lead vocals' strange hairdo, the way the band moves through that limited space filled with mirrors, aluminum foil and those girls following the vocalist throughout the video. They didn't spent much with the video but they managed to create an instant classic reference of that decade - in the band's case it's also worth seeing "Space Age Love Song".

A band performing on a strange set and there you have a hit. Baby MTV put this on heavy airplay and that's the result of a band becoming famous with just this song, several covers from it (even Supla has a Brazilian version released a few years ago, hysterically funny clip also starring Luciana Gimenez). And if the video looks corny and poor to some, pay attention to the sound quality of the group. It's unlike anything you've ever heard, it's completely out of this world. It sticks in your mind for a long time. Sit back and enjoy it! 10/10
