What the.....
Agent1024 December 2020
So I watched this and came to a new conclusion in life...maybe I should accept the idea that Die Hard is a Christmas movie. I say this because why would you watch a Christmas movie if the holiday spits out nonsense like this?

This is barely a movie. It's padded out dance numbers with some bizarre philosophical assumptions. Ranging from allusions to sexual awakening and the Holocaust, how did this movie get made in the first place? I can at least be thankful for one thing...it's short as hell. I suppose in more capable hands one could have turned this into something, but it wasn't made by capable people. Watch it for the weird factor, and then let it drift back into the annals of oddball Christmas movies that should have stayed on the shelf.

I will say the dancing robots were kinda cool.

Pointed Critique of Capitalism

Jesus most assuredly was a Marxist, and this is one of the only Christmas movies to directly deal with the true ugliness of Christmas and its consumerism. I would compare it to Pasolini's Gospel According to St. Mathew.

Sorbo talks at the ballet!

Kevin Sorbo's narrations is really annoying the movie. I want to hear the awesome music, not the insipid chatter, breaking the spell. What type of dork talks at the ballet? This is a good movie to buy a soundtrack of!

Christmas is for parents

This is a kids movie but I found it really honest than most about (a) how rough childhood can be; and (b) how hard it is to be a parent around the holidays. I just don't have the money to make my kids happy that time of year. This movie gets it, but has a message that it is the people and the relationships around us that really matter, not money and things and rituals

Not your average holiday flick!

While a successful and charming Christmas kids movie this is also a VERY Freudian adaptation of ETA Hoffmann's Nutcracker and the Mouse King and pointed (atheist? agnostic? piously devout?) critique of Christmastime myths. Not your average holiday flick!

Inventive and very well done

I only wish there was a version of this without the narration which is bland and almost instructive-sounding, and not at all in the same aesthetic of the presentation. But the look, the music, and the choreography are spectacular.

We ordered this movie off of amazon and it exceeded our expectations! Great to see these two classic stories put together with a modern twist! Fun for the whole family. My 3 year old can't get enough. Highly Recommend!
