This actually isn't bad.The inclusion of John as Ricky's original birth partner is an enlightened idea but sensibly it doesn't wear out its welcome and we soon get the people closest to Ricky by her side. The chemistry between Ash and Denny continues to sparkle, making Kyle's rant at them ill-timed but well-aimed.And the bond between Kyle and Ricky is reinforced in a nice scene.Only Brax's part of the storyline fails to work:The prison rules seem absurdly draconian and his family's plan seems to be "find out something isn't going to work but keep doing it anyway".
The Jett storyline is disappointing though.Marilyn is back to being an irritating child woman, damaging her effectiveness as a mother figure. The Jett/Roo scene fails to hit the mark and would be much more affecting if it featured Alf.And the resolution doesn't really work.
