Rewatch thoughts

Warning: Spoilers
This is a great episode, as usual for the show at this point, May's stories are always heartbreaking and it's just her luck that Andrew turned into Lash, my heart goes for her, and Ming Na really acted the hell out of this episode, so did the guy who plays Andrew! Rosalind continues to be an excellent debate opponent for Daisy, and I was very happy when she and Coulson finally acted on all that sexual tension, took them long enough! I was interested in seeing Mack and Lincoln teem up, but that didn't last long, instead we got broody Lincoln to muddy up the situation..booo! i had forgotten Lincoln was hard to like at this point, only my knowledge of the future is helping me tolerate him now.

Keeping and Telling Secrets
XweAponX10 November 2015
Everyone has a secret. Dr Andrew Garner has a huge one. So does Agent May. The same secret, actually. Jemma had some, but she gave Fitz her magic i-Phone. So this episode is for telling some secrets, and keeping others.

Lincoln has been secretly in touch with Daisy, Mack secretly meets with Lincoln. To discuss- May and Andrew's secret, actually.

Secrets which are soon out in the open. But suddenly May and Andrew go missing. And, it seems they had a secret even before all of the fun stuff with "Lash" started.

This episode acts a mainly a Denouement, resolving many things that had been left open ended. Joey Gutierrez (Juan Pablo Raba) is back, the metal-melting inhuman. This is the first we've seen him, and we hear about a new facility, "The Cocoon". And Daisy confronts Rosalind (Constance Zimmer of the X-files episode "First Person Shooter") about keeping Inhumans on Ice. Both have strong feelings about it, Daisy against it, Rosalind supporting it as a "life saving measure". But I still question her motives.

Ironically, Freezing Inhumans might be a good short-term solution for a certain problem. And all of the story arcs that I mentioned in the last episode are now merging back into one arc - And we get to see Inhuman vs Inhuman. Will Lincoln keep a lid on it, or will he take revenge? Speaking of Revenge, Ward has focused his Attention on one certain aspect of SHIELD. Is Rosalind in on it? Because Hydra ain't dead yet. Let's not forget about Will Daniels, the "Astronaut" left on Jemma's Sand Planet. And Fitz uncovers something about who actually sent that team through the portal.

The last 3 seconds tell it all...
A_Different_Drummer16 December 2015
Because that is when the MUTANT ENEMY logo appears, the name of the original production company Joss used for Buffy and Angel.

The name of the company that more or less changed the face of TV drama, and gave every other writer on the planet a street clinic on how to do it.

The graphic accompanying the credit is a crudely drawn monster chasing a possible victim. Which if you think about it, is the essence of everything Whedon has done since.

(For those metaphysically inclined, you can even ask yourself if the Marvel library exists to give Joss a canvas, or if Joss exists to show the potential of the Marvel characters?) In any case this is a perfect episode. The arcs from past shows crisscross against each other so fast you could get dizzy. But at the end of the day, all you really remember are the relationship issues.

The gift of Team Whedon is the ability to delineate what at first glance appears to be a simple story of beast chasing man, to man chasing relationship. And one is as deadly as the other. (The scene in Buffy where she tries to kill Angel and push him through a portal is re-visited here in subtle fashion, as Whedon almost pays homage ... to himself.) And this episode is one of the best examples of Joss and family at their craft.
