Season 6: Strong season
bob the moo14 August 2015
The fifth season of this show had a few episodes that I felt really didn't work, however in the case of the sixth episode, there wasn't really an episode where I felt the guest did not fit in, or did not work in the spirit of the show. With a typically strong line-up of both comedians and cars, the show has a real weight to it. There continues to be a genuine feel to the show, and I think this is a big reason that it always manages to avoid self-congratulatory smugness as well as it does, even in the first episode where it is kicking back through Seinfeld with Louis-Dreyfuss.

The cars are really impressive (for varying reasons) in this season – even as someone who is not really into cars, they are great to look at, and very well filmed throughout. Seinfeld himself is on good form, but more importantly, all of the guests get what the show is doing – all episodes here are very much in the mould of the show as a whole, so it is a great show of talking. Carrey is the only one who feels like he is playing up, but even his episode is pretty good – and maybe this is just him being himself? Louis-Dreyfuss, Harvey, Noah, and Colbert are all very good guests; Maher was good but the chemistry felt a little off with him just for small moments. If the season had a weakness is that it is very heavy in names this time, with nobody lower on the circuit – although to be fair, Noah was apparently booked before The Daily Show announcement – plus it is hard to complain about there not being a less-well-known guest when all the episodes are strong as a result of the guests.
