I remember this crash, because just weeks before it happened, I saw an interview with John Tower on NBC Today where he promoted his new book "Consequences: A Personal and Political Memoir". At the end of the interview, John what his priority was in life now that he's no longer in politics (his nomination to be Defense Secretary - he was nominated by George Bush, Sr - was rejected by the Senate). John said he planned to build up as much treasure on this earth.
Sadly the former Senator died in the crash Atlantic Southeast Airlines Flight 2311 in 1991, along with one of his daughters Marian. Also on board was astronaut Sonny Carter. Watching this episode, you can only wonder how such an accident could have happened.
